For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
I did not like the news from home. Mariia was doing her job, bringing water to the guards at the front door and she was wearing a vest, but one too small so her abdomen was exposed a bit and that is where she was shot. However, the guards did not do their job. On a Red Alert when they saw that car driving in, they should have shot at the car to stop it before it got too close to the chateau, but they didn’t. They allowed the car to get within shooting distance of Mariia.
Mandar was angry with that and sent them home and brought Team 7 out to help Team 5 with guarding the chateau. All of Team 5 would go for retraining later he said. Now, prior to the Wildcats coming to our restaurant, Trapper and some men came in for dinner, something that apparently was unusual according to the hotel owner. Unknown to us, however, was that Trapper had set a trap for Matt and his men. They were going to come here for dinner tonight as well and Trapper somehow knew that and had men across the street in an empty building, ready to shoot at the Knight Riders when they came out.
However, Mac spotted a couple of men in a second floor window and he noticed that one had an assault rifle. Mac has good eyes for these things. So Matt called Kat and made some plans of his own. Just as the Riders began to come out of their hotel, Kat and her Wildcats came along driving their two vans nice and crazy like, doing a complete spin around right in front of the Riders and then taking off down to our hotel. When they were gone Trapper’s men noticed that the Knight Riders were gone. “They probably thought those crazy people in the vans were going to attack them,” said one.
“Yeah, and they went back inside,” said another, “guess that means they will stay put now at their own hotel.” “Yep, we lost the element of surprise now,” said the first, “may as well leave.” So they went out the back to their jeeps and the tires of all 3 were flat. “You really should tell Trapper to take better care of your wheels,” said Matt, and all the guys started laughing. Then some of Trapper’s men pulled their guns and began to shoot, so the Riders returned fire, killing 8 men and wounding 4. The remaining four were roughed up a bit. But two of Matt’s men had been shot.
Meanwhile, back at our restaurant. Kat and the Wildcats came jumping in, acting quite crazy and went over to Mandar’s table. “Hey Daddy, hope we’re not late for dinner,” said Kat and she kissed Mandar on his cheek. “My dear Kat, will you ever act like a normal young lady?” he asked, sighing. “Aww Daddy, what fun would that be?” she said, pouting, “You wouldn’t like me as much then and you know it.” “Well, my dear, you just might be correct,” he said smiling, “now sit down so we can order our meals.” “Yeah, food time!” squealed a couple of the girls.
Poor Mandar just shook his head. Then Kat came over to our table. “Hey little man,” she said, “looks like you have your hands full, but would you like another one?” “Sorry girl,” said Jennifer, “but he’s mine.” Kat had her arms around me, looking over my shoulder. “So what?” she said, “I like him, he’s kinda cute.” I had my phone on, looking at a text from Matt so that Kat could see it too. “I’ll say it again, he is mine,” said Jennifer, more firmly this time.
Kat sneered at her and walked out of the restaurant and went to the kitchen, then out the back door and down the alley to where Matt and his Riders were waiting. Oskar had been shot, as was Harvey, but Oskar’s was more serious. She took out a thin knife and popped the bullet out easily from his chest, then she asked for something to disinfect the spot. They found some alcohol in one of the jeeps and she poured that on, then she covered her hand with a large cloth from one of the jeeps.
“Hey, what are you doing Kat?” asked Oskar, “That feels kind of weird.” “Just be quiet,” she told him, “or I will have one of these big guys hit you on the head.” She smiled when she said it. The bullet that hit Harvey just grazed his leg and Samantha was now there attending to him. Trapper’s men, the ones still alive, were all knocked out so did not know anything of what was happening at this point. Soon Kat and Samantha were back, though they returned at different times.
Trapper was watching everything closely, but mostly Mandar and the Wildcats. He did not like the fact that so many different new people were showing up at the same time, but he was sure that Timothy was behind it. Those 4 men from breakfast were back again too, but they seemed to be most interested in my team. I doubt they even glanced at Trapper and his men even once. I wonder if Timothy has men watching us to make sure we are doing our job? That is quite possible.
While we were eating I got a phone call from Pacca. I told her she could talk and I would mostly listen, or make remarks that had nothing to do with what she was saying so no one would know what was going on. She found out some interesting information for us. Lena, the woman visiting Timothy, is actually his girlfriend and she is also an aunt to Toledo. She is also Acadia’s mother, even though Timothy said that both her parents had been killed. Only her father had been killed, possibly by Trapper. Although Brink was in charge of hiding the stolen loot, he gave it to Acadia to hide while he tried to run away.
The police would never think that Acadia was involved, so Brink figured she would be safe. Brink’s girlfriend told this to Timothy and that is why he wants Acadia back, so he can get his hands on the loot. He does not care about Acadia at all, neither does her mother, she wants that loot too. Acadia will likely be killed once she tells them where it is hidden, though she probably doesn’t know that. Trapper doesn’t know that Acadia hid the loot or he would be trying to get that information from her.
That makes things more dangerous than ever for Acadia, it is only a matter of time before Trapper finds out what she knows. We need to get her out tonight, if possible. At least Trapper has less men now and that means fewer guards to deal with. I sent Jewel with a message for Kat and Jewel came back right away. Meow, mew.= She say okay, they be ready. Between our two teams we should have no trouble getting into that fortress. I just hope we can get out too…
To Be Continued.

The three Investigators’ teams have clear communications and coordination, which is good. Timothy having Toledo’s aunt as his girlfriend is no surprise. Arcadia is definitely a pawn in this story. Her young age and vulnerability are against her. Hope the team can rescue her and get out with her, without being trapped. Kat helped with her unique medical and healing skills, again. It is good you got more information but do you know the layout of the fortress? This information may be key in a successful rescue. Love that Mandar is in the action, yet again!

Yes, our teams are doing well in working together even though we are separate from each other.
Yes, this makes Timothy and his girlfriend very dangerous, both will be hard, caring about no one except themselves. They will likely kill Acadia once she tells them where to find the loot.
Sabina is the only one that knows the inside layout of this fortress so we have to take her with us even though I would prefer to leave her behind. It would be dangerous for her to get captured by Trapper.
Mandar will likely only have a small role this time, though that could change.🤔👩😾🕵️♂️
