For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning everyone! Well, I’m finally here with my DIY project which I mentioned on Saturday. It is something I do each year and it is a very simple and quick project, giving a nice Christmas decoration for a table centerpiece, or for a side table in any room.

My basket with a bunch of different decorations to use.
First, you will need an empty basket of some kind, but something not too small. Actually, even a very small basket could be used, though you would have to modify the decorations used for it. I always gather together a lot of decorations that I might want to use in my basket ahead of time. That way I don’t have to go looking for something while I’m doing this project.

Pine cones are added first.
I fill my basket with pine cones, something that is very easy to find out in the woods around here. However, they can usually be found for sale in dollar stores as well.

Then add other decorations.
Then I added some plastic decorative balls in blue and red, of different sizes and shapes. For something like this I like to use plastic, a little safer since I seem to like breaking things. Also, if Muffin should decide to play with them, it will be safe for her too. Normally she leaves things alone though.

Then I took a short piece of tinsel garland to wrap around the handle of the basket, to brighten it up a bit.

Then I added a couple of bells and bow to the center of the handle.

Not all of the lights show in the photo since they don’t all light up at the same time.
Finally, I added some lights to the basket, just kind of spreading them around in no particular way, and also wrapping them around the handle of the basket. These lights are battery operated so I don’t have to worry about finding somewhere to plug them in. The bulbs are a round, frosted style, and there are 8 different blinking modes. The batteries last a long time, which is nice.
There we have it, something that is very simple, doesn’t take very long to do and it looks nice. Plus, it’s a bit different as well. I hope you enjoyed this DIY project today. Have a wonderful day everyone and God bless!
