The Investigators, Inc. The Ghost House Case. Chapter 3. Bombs.

Matt and his Knight Riders were watching carefully in different places, waiting for Marshal, Lyla and their gang to come out from that old house. Paul and his friends were the ones to spot them coming out of a treed area along a side road. It was just about 2 minutes later that 2 vans showed up and picked them up, along with all their stuff and off they drove. Prior to this everyone was happy to see us coming out of our bedroom. We gathered all of our stuff together and went back home, rather tired.

It has been a long night for us. In the morning we went back to the place where Marshal and gang came out of that treed area. King and Queen quickly found the spot in the ground where the door was located, however, we were not able to figure out how to open it. “It must be electronically operated,” I said. “There’s no electricity in that house Steve,” said Kat. “There was in the section they were using,” I said to her, “there are different ways to get electricity, they could have generators, for example.”

“Too noisy, we would hear them,” said Kat. “Well, there is also solar power,” I said again. “There are no solar panels,” said Kat. I looked at her. “Batteries, perhaps,” I said smiling, “or portable power station?” “That would have to be quite large,” she said, “or have several of them. Possible, I guess, though not too likely.” “Well, at least we’re at possible,” I said, “now we have to set our trap and wait for them to return.” “How do you know they will return?” asked Paul.

“Well, they seem to like this place for some reason,” I said, “so it must have some significant advantage for them. Perhaps it’s just the location, or perhaps there is more underground than we realize. Whatever the case, I think they will return within about a week if the place is important in some way.” We have enough people to watch this place 24 hours a day without any problem, and we will do it in 4 hour shifts so no one gets bored or tired.

Meanwhile, Marshal and Lyla had returned to their hotel room with Marshal laughing almost uncontrollably. Lyla did not think anything was funny at all. Apparently the doctor that looked at her “dog” bite didn’t actually believe Lyla. He just kept saying, “strangest dog bite I have ever seen. Looks more like a large cat bite to me. Something like a lion or tiger, but that can’t be.” “No, it was not a lion or tiger!” said Lyla finally, getting rather irritated by hearing him say that 6 times.

“It tore this muscle quite badly though,” he said, “it will take a long time to heal. For now, try not to walk on it too much.” The next day Marshal came to Lyla in the afternoon. “Well, I got that fixed up good,” he said, “that should teach that PI not to fool with us.” “Now what do you have planned?” she asked. “Well, they have a gardening crew in right now planting shrubs around their chateau,” he said, looking very pleased with himself, “so I sent some of our people to join them.”

“And how is that going to fix anything?” she asked, almost not wanting to hear the answer. “While planting the shrubs closest to the chateau, they will also plant those bombs we have been saving. Then while they have their dinner today, BOOM, and no more chateau or PI team.” He stood there smiling. “I was right, you don’t have any brains,” she said, “do you realize that not all of them live there??! Some are at home for the holidays, then there is that Kat and her Wildcats, plus Matt Knight and his Knight Riders, both groups which are in the area right now.

Kat is that PI’s sister-in-law, and even though they are on opposite sides of the law, if something happens to that PI or her sister, she would be very happy to come after us. And she has a very tough group of about 50 women in her gang. Matt Knight has some connection to Steve as well and he has about 100 tough men in his organization. Both of those 2 gangs don’t need to follow the law like that PI does, so they pose a greater problem to us than Steve!” Marshal stood there staring at her.

“Too late now,” he said, rather annoyed, “once those bombs are activated, there is no turning them off.” Meanwhile, our old friend Trapper and his buddies were having lunch at a restaurant where some of Marshal’s men were also eating lunch. And they overheard this bombing plan by Marshal. Unfortunately he didn’t know how to get in touch with me, however, Kat and her Wildcats came into the restaurant at that moment. Kat came flipping over and over, landing just on the other side of Trapper.

“Hey Mr. Trapper,” she said, “I found you again.” “Yes, so you did Miss Kat,” he said smiling, “and I am so happy to see you.” Then he began to whisper to her. “I just overheard those 4 guys talking,” he said, “and they were planting shrubs at that PI’s chateau today, you know, that PI you always say is cute. Anyway, they also planted bombs that have been set to explode at 6pm which will destroy that whole chateau and everyone in it.

Do you know how to get in touch with that PI? The bombs can’t be stopped, so everyone in there needs to get out, now. These guys work for someone named Marshal.” “I will warn that cute PI,” said Kat, “and please stay around for a few days, you will get paid for this information.” Kat went back to her team and told them what Trapper had said. “Take those 4 men out to the white van,” she told them, “no need to be gentle…”
