For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Hello everyone and welcome back to another look at mushrooms and other fungi. There certainly are a great many different types of mushrooms, even in just one local area like this. They are fascinating and often very beautiful, though many are quite plain in style and color. But all are interesting and make great subjects for photography.
They can be found spring through fall in areas like ours, and even during winter in areas without snow. Today we will look at an interesting fungi called the Orange Earth Tongue. What color is it? Bright yellow, of course. Although at times they can be sort of a yellow-orange color, though I have never seen one. They are very bright though which makes them easy to spot in the forest.

They grow on decaying leaves and needles from coniferous trees. They can also be found on decaying logs and in thick mosses. They are found under hardwood and coniferous trees anywhere from July to September. They will sometimes be found singly, but often in loose clusters. They are considered to be NOT EDIBLE.

More of them.
They can be up to 3 inches (7cm) tall, the width can vary from 1mm to 4mm, though I have seen them wider than that, though not by much. They are quite firm and not something I would even want to try eating if it was edible. Oh well. It is interesting anyway. Have a great day everyone and God bless!
