For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Hi everyone! Happy Saturday as well! It’s a cloudy, somewhat drizzly day here and that makes it a perfect day to look at another one of my favorite photos. At least, I hope you will agree with me anyway. The photo today is of a very small bird, the Red-Eyed Vireo. This is one of our summer birds and for a small bird, it has a very loud song.
And it is very nice as well, great to listen to, though many people consider it rather monotonous. I enjoy it, however, and although the song is short, it is repeated up to 40 times per minute! Around here these birds are more often encountered in the forest areas rather than in town. This is one of our summer birds which heads down to the Amazon area of South America for the winter.

Red-Eyed Vireo.
They usually arrive in early to mid May and are gone by the end of August or early September. They are not very colorful, as you can see, which makes it hard to spot these small birds. I always enjoy hearing them when they first arrive in spring. I hope you enjoy the photo. Have a great weekend and God bless!

You captured so much detail! I know you mentioned they’re not very colorful, but there’s so much nuance in his wings. Beautiful photo!
