For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning everyone! It is a sunny, but cold day here. We received about 4 inches (10cm) of fresh snow on Thursday, so everything is starting to look white all over now. And I guess it makes it look more like Christmas weather too. Although I am not a fan of winter anymore, I will admit that a snowy scene does look nice.
Especially from the warmth of being inside and looking out at that snowy scene. Well, today I’m going to start something that I used to do on my blog years ago, and that is, sharing funny stories of times with my dad. So, let’s begin with some shopping funnies with dad.

Walking down to the river in early December 2020
One day dad wants to get some shampoo and he was very particular about the scent of his shampoo. He was looking at a brand he had never purchased before, so, he decided to take the cap off and smell it. Well, the cap was on rather tight, so, he held the bottle tightly and finally the cap came off.
Well, what happened was a fountain of shampoo high in the air and landing on the shelf, the floor, dad’s feet, his hands and on his face and glasses. Poor dad, he just stood there. “Now what do I do?” he asked quietly. There was a lady standing close by, looking at him. She just said, “I don’t know.” She then ran off.

I could hear her laughing in the next aisle. Dad then turned to me but I was already gone too. “How did you get back to the car so fast?,” he asked. “Practice,” was all that I said. After looking at him trying to clean himself off, I asked “What did you do with the shampoo bottle?” “I just put the bottle back on the shelf and got out of there,” he said. That got me going again, laughing loud and long.
Another time we were at the hardware store getting some nails. Dad was filling up the scale while I got a bag to put them in. “Okay,” said dad, “hold the bag steady while I pour the nails in.” I looked at all those nails and realized they wouldn’t fit in the bag I had brought over. “Don’t pour yet,” I said.

Once again.
Guess dad wasn’t paying attention, he was already in pouring mode! I got the bigger bag, but when I came back, dad was just standing there looking at all the nails on the floor. “Why did you dump them on the floor?,” I asked. “Why did I bring you with me?,” he asked in return.
“Without me you wouldn’t be able to pour the nails into the bag,” I said. Dad just looked. “Obviously I couldn’t do it with you either,” he said, still looking at all those nails on the floor. That did it. I started laughing. And laughing.

I chose these pics because it is likely just like this right now too. The winters started out much the same.
Well, just a little humor to start our Saturday, or end it, depending on where you live. I will share more of these funnies in the future, so many things happened! It should be mentioned that dad always laughed at these fun times afterward too. We always enjoyed our times together. I will likely be sharing more of my own experiences as well. I hope you are all enjoying your weekend and God bless!
