For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Hi everyone, and a somewhat belated Happy New Year! You may have noticed that I haven’t been around much lately, so thought I would let you know what has been happening. First is little Muffin, she is now 16 years old and showing her age. She is not doing well and sleeps most of the time, well, nearly all of the time now. Other health problems are showing up for her as well, besides her age, so she will not likely be around much longer.
Then there is me and a worsening of my health as well. I have had 3 health assessments done over the past month and finally after my last assessment done yesterday, there will be changes made which will be a big help to me. It will mean a whole new schedule to adjust to each day, but it shouldn’t take long to make this adjustment. Then I can start concentrating on other things once again and that means I will be back here on a more regular basis.

“I knew there were peanuts in here,” says Baxter blue jay.
Our weather has been quite nice so far this year, amazingly mild for the first week of January. Of course it has been mainly cloudy each day too, but in winter here, cloudy days mean milder days. Yesterday and overnight saw freezing fog once again and the trees were looking so nice and frosty, but I notice they have lost that frosty look already. It never does stay for very long though and it always looks best on a sunny day with frosty trees against that beautiful blue sky.

Aha! There’s a nice big peanut!
Hmm, I see the sun is trying to peek out from beneath that thinning layer of cloud cover. A blue jay is calling in the distance, a raven is also calling as it flies past my window. I could hear a couple of crows cawing about an hour ago. That is all the bird activity for the day so far. A deer is walking along on the sidewalk probably trying to decide which yard to walk through that has the tastiest grass or shrub. The deer have to dig through the snow now to get at the grass, but they are willing to do so.

Now to tuck it in good so I don’t lose it in flight.
Speaking of plants, mine are doing great right now. I even picked up some new plants recently, including a philodendron “Birkin” and a philodendron “Birkin” variety called “Pink Bikini”. Apparently the pink bikini is a rare variation of the regular Birkin. I also picked up a rare variety of snake plant called “Night Owl”, which was a nice surprise to find.
I need to repot these plants this afternoon. I might have to stop buying anymore plants soon…maybe…or not. Depends on what plants show up I guess. Oh well. I hope you all have a wonderful day and God bless!
