For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
While visiting with Misty, Celestine and the cats I suddenly began to feel odd again, then I groaned and said, “help, Kat.” Misty pressed the emergency button and Samantha arrived right away with Lily right behind her. Jennifer wasn’t far behind them either. “We’re losing Steve for some reason, fast!” exclaimed Samantha, “We need Kat right away!” Jennifer was already communicating with Sky to bring Kat immediately because I was dying. She barely finished when Sky and Kat arrived.
Jennifer told Sky to return and continue looking for Frank and she would be in charge now. Off she went but reminded Jennifer to call her if I needed more blood. It was just half an hour later and Jennifer was calling Sky and soon she was sharing more of her blood with me while Kat worked on me too. This time Samantha was draining some of my blood so Sky’s blood could take over. It was kind of risky, but it seemed like the only way. Kat was confident that it would work and I would be fine.
However, if it wasn’t for Kat working on my body to accept this new type of “blood”, it would likely kill me. But without it I would die anyway, so it was worth the risk. Jennifer was out in the waiting area, it was too crowded in the operating room and it was hard for her to watch anyway. Angel was in there too, giving added strength to Sky and myself. It was a lengthy procedure but finally it was over and I was back in my room again, with Sky in a bed next to me. “Why do I need to stay in bed?” asked Sky, “I’m a ghost, I don’t need recovery time.”
“Wrong,” said Kat, “you will stay in that bed until Samantha says you can get up!” She then walked out the door and Sky sighed. “It’s not that bad,” said Jennifer, “just think, people will have to wait on you like servants, bringing food and snacks, fluffing your pillow, bringing you a book to read, whatever you want.” That certainly perked up Sky in a hurry. Jennifer then called Misty and asked if Catriona’s famous biscuits were ready.
“Yep, just came out of the oven,” she said. “Good, please bring 6 with lots of butter, a pot of tea and 2 cups,” said Jennifer. “Right away Leader Jennifer,” said Misty, “maybe sooner!” She was soon at the door and Jennifer let her in. “Here ya go Leader Jennifer,” said Misty, “anything else I can do for you?” “Yes, please pour a cup of tea for Sky and give her 3 of the biscuits,” she said, “and you will be Sky’s helper while she is recovering.” “Me?” Why me?” asked Misty.
“Would you prefer playing with Steffie and Roxie this afternoon,” she asked, “or helping Sky. After all, if it wasn’t for Sky, Steve would be dead.” Misty stood there blinking. “Right! Sky’s helper it is!” said Misty and she quickly took tea and biscuits over to Sky. “Would you fluff my pillow?” asked Sky. “Right away,” said Misty and she pulled the pillow out from under Sky causing her to flump back onto the mattress. That caused Sky to spill her tea on herself.
“I’m wet,” said Sky. “Wow, finished your tea already?” asked Misty and she pushed Sky over a bit to put her pillow back. “Here you go, more hot tea,” said Misty and she began to pour. But Sky was sipping the last of her tea from her cup and Misty poured the tea on Sky. “I’m more wet now,” said Sky. “Oops, missed, you shouldn’t have moved your cup,” said Misty. “It’s the only way to drink it,” said Sky. Misty filled her cup again, then she jumped on the bed.
“Wow, nice and bouncy!” she exclaimed. That caused Sky to spill her tea again. “Now I’m soaked!” exclaimed Sky. “Oh my, want some more tea?” asked Misty. “Why not, there’s still a dry spot over here,” said Sky. Poor Jennifer was laughing so hard she was sitting on the floor holding her stomach. “Would you get me my book from my bedroom?” asked Sky. “Right away Sparky!” said Misty and off she ran. That was too much for Jennifer, she was now lying on the floor laughing. Sky just sighed very loudly.
Meanwhile, over in Illinois the teams were still trying to locate Bobby Frank. Considering that Springfield is his home city it seems like he would be easier to find. Aari is in charge right now until Sky or Kat get back there and that won’t happen until tomorrow at the earliest since Sky can’t travel right now. Later that day Aari, Carine and some of the Black Wolves went into a small restaurant for dinner and it just so happened that some of Frank’s men were there.
The waitress came over to give the Wolves menus and one of Frank’s men called out to her. “Hey, Daphne, you don’t serve them dogs,” he said, “they don’t belong here!” “I serve anyone that comes in here Danny,” she told him, “even you.” He was on his feet fast and stood in her way. “Frank wouldn’t want you to serve them dogs,” he said again. “Out of my way Danny,” she said, “or do I have to call the cops again?” That’s when Rock stood up and grabbed Danny, picked him up and sat him down on his chair again, then he sat down again too. But he never said a word.
“If you were referring to Bobby Frank,” said Aari, “you tell him that Aari Jensen is looking for him. You also tell him that he made a big mistake killing my cousin Helene. Only a wimp shoots an unarmed woman, then kicks her in the stomach after she’s dead. Let’s see if he’s brave enough to come out and fight me. I doubt that he will though, because I can fight back.” “If you were smart mister,” said Danny, “you would leave this city after you eat your dinner.” “I’m not a wimp,” said Aari, “I don’t run away.” That’s when Danny and his 3 friends walked out and drove away…
