For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Hello to each of you and Happy Saturday as well! It was very foggy again this morning and it put just a light layer of frost on the branches, which is all gone now. The fog did not stay around long enough to produce much frost like it did earlier this winter. It was 14F (-10C) this morning, not too bad for a winter morning.
Although we have already begun what is called “meteorological” spring which goes from March 1st to the end of May. That is a bit different than the equinox spring, and other seasons. The meteorological seasons match better to the weather we actually have up here in the north. But I digress.

The weather has been nice lately, yesterday the high temperature was 36F (2C), which was just beautiful. Kind of felt a bit like spring too. I can actually sit on the deck with my coffee and enjoy the birds all around me. Even with no food on my hands, the chickadees and nuthatches will still land on my arm and on my head.

One chickadee sat on my head for quite a while, I am not sure why, although he may have been waiting his turn at the peanut pieces. It can get quite busy at those peanut pieces. I even had one of the boreal chickadees land on my head briefly, and one tried to land on my arm as well.

Now I make sure I have some peanut pieces to put on my hand when the chickadees and nuthatches are around. They only stay about 15 minutes, then they leave for a while. But there are other birds around now, like the pine grosbeaks. Most of those have headed on north now, but 5 are still coming. There were over 40 evening grosbeaks yesterday, but only 4 this morning, all females.

There were also 3 male purple finches out here this morning, their red feathers shining nicely in the sun. There are 2 of them sitting on a branch right outside my window right now, they look so beautiful. But sitting out on the deck with the birds flying around, chirping and singing so nicely, that is solitude.

Ned the Red-breasted Nuthatch always like to hang around here.
A wonderful way to spend a little time, just relaxing in the sun and enjoying the nature around you. And you can find it right in your own yard, no need to go anywhere. Just sit and enjoy that quietude, listening to the singing of the birds. A great way to forget about that stress and problems for a while. Just enjoy the solitude. Have a wonderful weekend everyone and God bless!

We got back to the hotel and found out that Rock had returned. It seems that Sky was getting a bit worried about me with all the action we have seen so far, plus knowing that Crystal and Macey had both been kidnapped, though Crystal was back. So was Macey now, but Sky did not know that yet. “Man, that boy is bigger than me,” said Tiny. Rock just laughed and said he had a brother that was even bigger than him. Tiny just shook his head.
“I have a job for you Rock,” I said, “but it will mean flying back home again.” “Hey, I just got here, do I get to rest a bit first?” he asked. “Yes, you can wait until tomorrow to leave,” I said, “but this paperwork is getting too much attention, so I want it back home where it will be safe for a while. And I want to send Macey back home with you too. She seems to be well known here so we will have to do something about that.”
I called Annelie and asked her to get busy with a new identity for Macey. Then I asked to speak with Sky. “Cannot do that Lieutenant,” she said, “she is not here.” “Oh, out having fun while I work,” I said laughing. Just then our door opens and in comes Angel, Crystal and…Sky! All of them looking identical. “Can you pick the right Sky?” they all said together. “Not a problem,” I said and went over to Sky right away.
“I lost,” said Carver. He thought Sky was in the middle. “You will be heading back too,” I said, “too dangerous here.” “That is exactly why I am staying here,” she said, “you need more protection.” “Better listen Lieutenant,” said Carver smiling. Just then John called, they had followed some of the clubhouse boys to see if they might go to warn Cam, and they did.
He gave me the address and we were soon on our way. We left the girls behind this time though, except for Sky and Kristina, they might be helpful in dealing with Cam’s girlfriend. Seems she is with Cam at the moment, might even be her house. Clarence had gone around behind the house while the clubhouse boys were there, and had made sure the car in back would not be usable for Cam. There was still a car in front, but John and Clarence would make sure he did not go anywhere in that car either.
The clubhouse boys left after a short visit, with Cam and his girlfriend standing on the front porch. They then went inside and we showed up shortly afterward. Again, we surrounded the house, not knowing how many people might be inside. Clarence had a briefcase with him, so he took it and went to the front door. The briefcase was just in case they saw him coming, he would have an excuse to be someone else.
He put our little device on the door, then started to walk away. One of the other guys did the same on the back door. He called when he was finished and I set them off. Nice explosions followed and everyone rushed inside with guns ready. We took Cam by surprise obviously as he was not ready at all. Some of the guys went upstairs to make sure no one else was around. Sky and Kristina took the girl into the kitchen while we questioned Cam in the living room.
A few hard slaps and he was a bit more willing to cooperate. He admitted that he and his gang had killed the lawyer and his wife, but he was working for Carnival. Apparently the lawyer had started to blackmail Carnival with the information he had. Carnival did not like that, naturally, so he ordered him killed, along with his wife and daughter. But they could not find the daughter.
He was about to say something else when someone shot through the open window, killing Cam. The man began to run and one of Major’s men went out after him. But someone else in the waiting car shot him. Then Rock and Tiny went out shooting with their big guns. The car had every window shattered and two men inside killed, but the driver escaped unharmed and just yelled do not shoot while keeping his hands in the air.
They were men from Carnival and had a warning from him to me. Just simply leave while we still could, or die. I never did like ultimatums. But, it might be a good idea to leave and search through all this paperwork at home with Baldwin’s lawyers. It would be safer too. Then we can come back and give certain paperwork to the police to use against Carnival. We can also give some, that pertains to Victor, back to the Major so they can deal with it. Hopefully leaving is the right choice…
To Be Continued.
