Looking At Insects. #10

Hi everyone!

We are back with another flower fly for today. This one is the “Oblique Stripetail”. It really has a unique and interesting pattern on it! This flower fly is just 1/4 inch (6mm) long and such a beauty in something so small. These small flies can hover effortlessly and dart off in any direction very fast, so it is easy to lose them. They feed on nectar of a variety of flowers and also spend time near aphids where they feed on the honeydew from the aphids. They are a common flower fly in the month of July. Have a great weekend all of you and God bless!

Looking. #11

Hi everyone!

Well, here we are with another purple finch, female, looking at me. It is quite interesting how many pics I have of purple finches looking at me compared to other bird species. They must find me interesting, or curious, or perhaps a little bit on the weird side. After all, I am always carrying this black thing with a big eye wrapped around my neck. So, I guess the last of the three would be the best choice! Anyway, please enjoy the photo, there are more on the way, though different species of birds and others. Have a great weekend everyone and God bless!
