Coffee And Musings. #9

Good morning to everyone and Happy Monday! I do hope you are having a good start to your week. I know sometimes it may not seem like it when it means back to work again. But try to keep that beautiful smile going today that I know you all have. I will not bother doing my daily weather report, after all, who likes to hear a daily weather report anyway? Well, actually, I do. But I am a bit strange.

Coming in for a landing. They use those big webbed feet of theirs as skis for a nice landing.

However, you all know that anyway. But just to be different we will not have it today. Besides, the weather this week does not look so good anyway. More rain coming. And more rain. Some people would love to have rain right now because of the heat and forest fires in so many places. But here we do not really need it at the moment. But, we get what we get.

Preening the wing feathers.

And it does give our forests a chance to recover a bit from last year when we had so many forest fires. There I go talking about the weather after saying I would not. Sigh. Yesterday was fairly hot here, though not exactly like other places, but for us it was hot. Still, my apartment did not overheat like it usually does, but it was only one day. It takes two or three days to really push the temperature up high in here. It was only 88F inside, about the same as outside and cooler weather is on the way.

Gathering for a bit of bird talk.

I am still talking about the weather when I am not supposed to be. Sigh. Muffin is not enjoying the heat however, though she did get a reprieve on Saturday after a hot day on Friday. Hot for us that is, not really hot. Muffin is a cool weather cat. So she basically just sleeps in this kind of weather. I am going to stop now. The pics today, as you can see, are the white pelicans that I was going to show on Friday, but did not.

Another one coming along to join the group.

That was because I did not post my usual Friday morning coffee post, due to circumstances beyond my control. I like taking pics of pelicans, they are fascinating birds. I am sure I could spend all day down at the river taking pics of those huge birds. Yesterday morning the crows suddenly got real excited about something cawing loudly so I looked out the window to see if I could find out why. I was thinking perhaps a hawk or an owl might be around.

This one is heading upstream for some fishing.

I was wrong. Nothing unusual about that. Anyway, it was a fox and it had something in its mouth but I could not tell what it was. Likely it was bringing breakfast home to the family. Hopefully it was not one of my chipmunks though. Speaking of chipmunks, they were not around much yesterday. Perhaps it was too hot for them so they stayed home where it would be cooler. Well, thank you for stopping by, have a marvelous Monday and God bless!

Steve and Muffin.

Fun With Grover. #8

Hi everyone! Here we are with more fun from Grover to begin our week! So, let us check out what he has for us…

Cat Rules of Hampering…

If one of your humans is engaged in some close activity and the other is
idle, stay with the busy one. This is called “helping,” otherwise known as
“hampering.” Following are the rules for “hampering”:

1. When supervising cooking, sit just behind the left heel of the cook. You
cannot be seen and thereby stand a better chance of being stepped on and
then picked up and comforted. It’s even funnier when they try to avoid
stepping on you and fall into a counter or table.

2. For book readers, get in close under the chin, between eyes and book,
unless you can lie across the book itself.

3. For paperwork, lie on the work in the most appropriate manner so as to
obscure as much of the work or at least the most important part. Pretend to
doze, but every so often reach out and slap the pencil or pen. The worker
may try to distract you – ignore it. Remember, the aim is to hamper work.

4. When a human is holding something in front of him/her for reading, be
sure to jump on the back of the reading material or tablet.

I don’t mean to brag, but I finished my 14-day diet food supply in 3 hours
and 20 minutes.

The English Language is weird. It can be understood through tough thorough thought though.

Everyone can bring joy — some by arriving, others by leaving.

Actually, Muffin suggested the humor for today, at least part of it anyway. I think she has a much longer list though. But she will not tell me for some reason. Oh well. Have a great day everyone and God bless!
