Coffee And Musings. #4

Hi everyone on this cloudy and humid Monday! I am late today but that is okay, time for coffee and a chat anyway, we will just make it a bit shorter today. I did not get up early enough this morning to write this post before going shopping, so, here we are in time for lunch. Well, here it is anyway. Time for lunch that is. And the sun has just come out, that is nice, it should warm things up a bit.

Hooked-spur Violet.

Not much activity outside today, except grackles and cowbirds. But I did see a chickadee today, first one since Saturday. I am putting out just a handful of seeds on the platform feeder for the small birds to hopefully keep them coming around. However, the grackles and blue jays eat them too, so I have to replenish the supply frequently.

Dog Violet.

But if the bear comes along he will not find much to eat which hopefully will discourage him. I am doing the same with the peanuts, I only put them out if the blue jays or chipmunks are actually here. Then they take them away quickly. And if I am sitting out there I will keep a cup of peanuts handy to feed them also. I just do not want the bear to find much if he does show up.

But it has been a couple of days now since his last visit. Which is nice. Jasmine was here for a little while, but for some reason she did not stay long. A different female is around now as well, I need to figure out a new name for her, it has to be the name of a mineral, in keeping with new squirrel names. She is bigger than Jasmine, however, Jasmine is still the top squirrel though Slim is back and there is considerable discussions between them as to who is really the top squirrel.

Starflower.

Slim is second place so far. I am thinking of changing his name to a mineral as well, Slim just does not fit him anymore. I have not seen Jasper for a few days now, I hope he is okay. Pocket was here quite a bit yesterday, even in the rain. And we did have a lot of rain yesterday. We do not really need rain right now, we still have too much, the lake level is very high right now.

Hopefully I will make it down to the river this week to see how things are doing down there. But I want a day with no, or little, wind. I am sharing some pics of wildflowers from our trip last Thursday, I hope you will enjoy them. Thank you so much for reading, have a marvelous Monday and God bless!

I caught my son chewing on electrical cords.

So I had to ground him.

He’s doing better currently.

And conducting himself properly.

==============

One summer evening during a violent thunderstorm a mother was tucking her son into bed. She was about to turn off the light when he asked with a tremor in his voice, “Mommy, will you sleep with me tonight?”

The mother smiled and gave him a reassuring hug. “I can’t dear,” she said. “I have to sleep with Daddy.”

A long silence was broken at last by his shaky little voice: “The big sissy.”

==============

Be decisive. Right or wrong, make a decision. The road is paved with flat squirrels who couldn’t make a decision.

“Normal” is a setting on a washing machine.

There we have it for today, I hope you were able to enjoy a laugh or two from this selection. Drink some coffee, smile and enjoy your day!
