Musings For Monday. #20 Colors.

Good morning everyone! Oh my, it is a cool one this morning, close to that terrible thing called frost last night. I am glad there was none around though, I just bought some flowers last week and do not want them to get frosted now. Supposed to be even closer to frost tonight so I might bring them inside just to be safe.

Chipping Sparrow.

Shopping day today so I will keep this short and give you several nice bird pictures to look at instead of listening to me talk. Hmm, reading my talking? That does not really sound right either. Oh well, photos are better anyway. Unfortunately I did not see my Baltimore oriole yesterday so I guess he moved on somewhere else.

Hairy Woodpecker.

Too bad I did not have an orange to hang up for him to eat on Saturday, perhaps that would have kept him around longer. Apparently they love oranges. I am glad that I was able to get so many nice photos of him though, one of the birds on my main list of goals for photographing. I like to get any bird I do not yet have, but there are certain ones that are at the top of the list and I have gotten three of them already this year.

Baltimore Oriole.

That is the Baltimore oriole, the male rose-breasted grosbeak and the mourning dove which I am showing today. The mourning call of the mourning dove has been one of my favorite bird songs ever since I was a little kid. I used to get up early, open my bedroom window and listen to those doves, it was just fantastic!

Mourning Dove.

Other favorite summer birds songs/calls are the common loon, the red-winged blackbird, song sparrow, American robin, hermit thrush, white-throated sparrow, eastern phoebe and a few others. Still need to get a photo of a phoebe, though they are not a colorful bird, they are one I remember back when in my teens. I need to update my list again, especially since I misplaced my old list. Sigh. Well, I hope you enjoy todays picks of pics. Have a most wonderful day everyone and God bless!

Grover’s Grins And Groans. #16

Hi everyone! Welcome back to some chuckles to begin your day and week. Grover has been busy checking around to find some nice jokes for you to enjoy so please feel free to chuckle or laugh, or even groan if you want. So here is what he found for today…

A grandmother sent her grandson a shirt for his birthday. The only trouble was that he had a size 14 neck and the shirt was size 12.

When the grandson sent a thank you note, he wrote, “Dear Grandma. Thanks a lot for the shirt. I’d write more, but I’m all choked up.”

The student asked the professor how many problems there would be on the final exam.

The professor looked the student over and replied, “I think you will have lots of problems on the final.” ===============

A man visited his doctor and said that every time he pressed his finger against any part of his body it hurt real bad. He showed the doctor by pressing his finger against his shoulder. “Oh, it really hurts,” he shouted.

Then he pressed his finger against his stomach. “That really hurts too,” he sighed. Then he pressed his leg. “That sure hurt too,” he moaned.

The doctor examined him thoroughly and said, “I can’t find anything wrong with your shoulder, leg or stomach, so I’m sending you to a specialist.”

He went to the specialist who examined him and said, “Sir, you have a broken finger.”

Some Mysteries

1. If a word is misspelled in the dictionary, how would we know?

2. Why are bleachers called “stands” when they are made for sitting?

3. If we expect the unexpected, doesn’t that make the unexpected the expected?

4. Why is ‘phonics’ not spelled the way it sounds?

5. Why is ‘abbreviated’ such a long word?

6. Why doesn’t glue stick to the inside of the bottle?

==============

Well, that is it for today, I hope you were able to find something to chuckle about. Have a great day and God bless!
