For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning and Happy Friday everyone! Time to sit on the deck and enjoy a cup of coffee. It is a beautiful sunny morning with just a light wind. The chipmunks are enjoying themselves hauling away the peanuts as fast as they can because they know…yep, there she is, Jasmine the squirrel has shown up and is chattering loudly, telling the chipmunks that the peanuts belong to her.
So they have gone and are doing their own chipping. And now, here comes Slim, wanting to get in on the fun. So the fighting begins between the 2 squirrels. And there they go! Chasing around the deck, now right off the deck and into the daylilies! Now Jasmine comes back, still chattering, but she has a peanut and she begins to eat. It is quite amazing how they can chatter so much and still eat at the same time.
I am surprised that Slim gave up so easily today. I really need to change his name. I keep trying different names for him, but nothing sounds quite right. I want it to be the name of a mineral, something we have around here. All new squirrel names will be like that from now on. Finally Jasmine has decided to be quiet and just eat. Here she comes for another peanut, and there she goes. It looks like she is heading back home with this one. She did not stay very long this morning.
Now perhaps the chipmunks can start coming back, though it will take a while before they realize that Jasmine has gone. I was out yesterday with a friend of mine getting some pics of a couple parks, flowers and some lake pics as well. I am showing some pics of our lake this morning. I will be sharing more such pictures in the coming days. The lake looks so beautiful on a sunny summer morning. Gulls flying around calling to each other. Loons with their long haunting calls and short bursts of “laughter”.
And speaking of gulls, here is Sir Charles looking for breakfast. He is a bit late today. Sir George and Lady Pearl were here at 6am for their breakfast. Usually Sir Charles is not far behind them. I got pics of a couple new insects yesterday as well. Now, when I say “new”, I mean new to me, not a new never before seen insect. My list of insect pictures has grown a lot this year and that is great.
Hmm, now Sir Henry has arrived for his breakfast. He always is a bit later than the others, and he nearly always comes for an afternoon snack as well, sometimes even for a bedtime snack quite late in the evening. But his mate, Lady Patricia, has not been around for a while which is kind of odd. I see GPS has arrived for some peanuts.
He sure is small compared to the other chipmunks, but he has learned quickly to open the peanuts and just take the contents, that way he can carry more in one trip. This way he can actually carry 2 or 3 peanuts, instead of just one. Smart little critter. Well, thank you for joining us on the deck today. Have a beautiful Friday and God bless!

LOVE the big shots of the lake environs, but wondering why you do not post pics with the script?
No biggie, and would rather read your blogs unconnected to the beautiful pics of birds, bugs, lakes and critters than discourage you, but just wondering.

Well, it’s usually kind of difficult to match what I’m talking about, which is normally current, with pics which are not totally current. But sometimes they do match up. However, then I usually have to talk about something that is maybe a few days old. For example, this morning, trying to get pics of today’s critters, then download to my laptop, reduce their size to use on my blog, all takes a lot of time and trying to do that every day would be hard. Although as far as critters are concerned, I have so many pics of them I wouldn’t need to use current ones I suppose.ππΉπ·

Steve and Muffin, I enjoyed the contrast of the serene and scenic lake with the scurrying chipmunks and squirrels.

It certainly is quite the contrast for sure. Thanks for stopping by today!
