For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Hello everyone on this Easter weekend! I will admit, I certainly never expected to see this much snow on an Easter weekend in any year. Yet, here it is. The sun is shining brilliantly today and reflecting off that new fallen snow making it rather hard to look in certain directions without some dark glasses to prevent that snow glare, which can actually be very dangerous for a person’s eyes.

But it does look so much nicer with the sun shining. However, it is rather cold again. Our high yesterday was 20F (-7C), and this morning it was 12F (-11C). Amazing cool for this time of year, even for us. Our normal high for this time of year is 46F (8C). This snow is not going to melt fast, and more is coming tomorrow night, about 2 inches (5cm). But I am getting some nice pictures of the birds around here right now.

And there is birds. A lot of them. I have tried counting, but that is useless. I would say that redpolls now number 250 to 300, juncos are next with around 60 or 70, evening grosbeaks are at 45. Other birds are in fewer numbers, but still add to the overall total which could be around 400 or more now. I have never had so many birds coming to my feeders.

I have had to add places to put seeds out, just on the snow that has been packed down hard so the seeds do not sink out of sight. Then I just stand there and take pictures. The birds are all around me. While out there this morning several birds tried to land on me, but my jacket is too slippery to hold onto. So I was taking pictures and felt something go on my foot.

I looked down and there was Jasper sitting on my foot eating a peanut. I talked to him, he looked up and chipped a bit. So I tried to slowly move my camera down, but I guess he does not like the camera so he went and hid. But he came back out later and I got some pics of him sitting on the step beside me. All of this is solitude. No one is afraid of me. That is solitude.

Winter continues. Hopefully by May we might get some actual spring. Actually I am hoping that we just kind of move right into summer. Oh well, what happens happens, it is a beautiful sunshiny day, and that is solitude also. I hope you enjoy the pictures which are from yesterday. I have some nice pics from this morning that I will share tomorrow. Have a wonderful Easter everyone and God bless!

Sitting down by the river on a warm, sunny, spring day. Or this year it might be more of a summer day. Whichever, it will be nice anyway to finally enjoy the time without cold and snow. Listening to all the birds singing as they return. That is solitude. Have a great day and God bless!
