Monday’s Musings. #32

Good Monday morning everyone! It is a nice chilly morning here today, but we won’t talk about that. My poor birds, all fluffed out because it is cold. But we will not talk about that. It is going to be a nice sunny day, though a bit on the frigid side. But we will not talk about that. I really do not like talking about the cold. After all, it is cold, what is there to say? So we will not talk about that. I mean, it is uncomfortable and cold. So we will not talk about that. In order to dress warmly enough to stay warm longer than 5 minutes requires so many clothes it is almost impossible to walk around.

A nice pine siskin enjoying breakfast on my hand. The temp was -20F that day.

Do you ever have trouble finding something? I do sometimes. Like yesterday for example. I was looking for something. Now, it’s a rather small something so it can hide easily almost anywhere. What is it you ask? I have no idea really. It is a kind of a hook thingy that kind of twirls around when attached to something else that you can hang up on other things. Does that help? I have no idea what it is called, really I do not. So that is the best I can do. Anyway, I needed this thingy to do something else. Actually, I have 4 of these things. I could not find even one.

Therefore they must all be in one spot. Would make sense anyway. So I looked for this thing. For an hour and a half. Without success. Meaning I could not do what I wanted to do because I needed the thing I could not find. It has happened to me before as well, even with larger items. But that is more embarrassing. This is a small apartment, as I mentioned recently. Not finding something small is not so bad. Not finding something larger in a place this small is embarrassing.

When I say large, I am not talking about furniture large, but say something about notebook large. That happened 2 days ago. I went to get a certain notebook from it’s spot on the shelf and…it was not there. I looked. And looked some more. And gave up. Instead I decided to do some thinking about where it might be instead of wasting time looking for it. Good plan. Except all that happened was I wasted an hour thinking about places where it could be but was not. Sometimes I am certain that Muffin hides these things on me. Oh well. Time to go shopping. Have a wonderful Monday and God bless!

A young private sought permission from his Commanding Officer to leave camp the following weekend. “You see,” he explained, “my wife’s expecting.”

“Oh…” said the Officer, “I understand. Go ahead and tell your wife that I wish her luck.”

The following week the same soldier was back again with the same explanation: “My wife’s expecting.”

The Officer looked surprised. “Still expecting?” he said, “Well, well, my boy, you must be pretty bothered. Of course you can have the weekend off.”

When the same soldier appeared again the third week, however, the Officer lost his temper. “Don’t tell me your wife is still expecting!” he bellowed.

“Yes sir!” said the soldier resolutely, “She’s still expecting.”

“What on earth is she expecting?” cried the Officer.

“Me,” said the soldier simply.

I was walking past a farm and a sign said “Duck, eggs!” I thought, “That’s an unnecessary comma.” And then it hit me.
