For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good Monday morning to everyone! It’s a fabulous autumn morning, sunny skies and, well, it’s supposed to be anyway. At the moment it’s kind of dark still. I’m going out soon so had to get this written a bit early. So right now there’s no action outside, still too dark for any of the birds, and hopefully there are no bears lurking around out there waiting for me to come out with the feeders. Something I won’t do until it does get daylight outside. No going out in the dark yet. Oh well. Theodore was here yesterday again and stayed longer than she did on Saturday. And she was much more talkative too.

She was complaining a bit about how cold it was already. We did have more frost yesterday morning, more than on Saturday morning. And since Theodore has bare legs and feet, they tend to get cold. Strangely she never mentioned anything about her head getting cold. I didn’t ask either. Sometimes it’s best not to ask certain questions. She was happy that the sun was shining again, she doesn’t like the rain. She also doesn’t like snow. Or cold weather. We have a lot in common.
Although I don’t mind rainy days, just not several in a row like we had last week. She was quite hungry yesterday too. She then sat on the arm of the feeder and preened her feathers for about half an hour. Then she ate some more and left. I like Theodore. After a few tries yesterday afternoon, well, a lot of tries, I finally got some pics of birds using my latest homemade feeder. A black-capped chickadee and a red-breasted nuthatch. As you can see in the pictures today. I just had to show them.

It really wasn’t easy to get the pics because every time a bird landed on it the feeder would twist and turn making it very difficult to focus in on it. So I had a lot of wasted shots, but that’s okay, I did get some that were not too bad. I’m still going to try for better photos yet however. Always keep trying for something better. The white-breasted nuthatch finally tried it too, but I was unable to get his picture. Oh, and guess who showed up yesterday afternoon? You’ll never guess, but try anyway. I’ll give you the answer tomorrow, with photos. I know, I’m terrible. Oh, and Chips the chipmunk showed up for a while yesterday afternoon, that’s the latest I have ever seen a chipmunk in the fall. Well, time to say good bye for now, have a marvelous day and God bless!

Hi everyone! Here we are with some more smiles and chuckles for your enjoyment!

Grandpa wonders how much 6-year-old Tommy knows about money. Just for fun, he pulls two bills from his wallet – a ten and a twenty – and asks Tommy which one he’d rather have. Tommy grins and takes the ten dollar bill.
“Thanks, Grandpa!”
Grandpa thinks it’s kinda funny, so he does it again. Again Tommy chooses the ten-dollar bill.
Grandpa calls over Uncle Joe and says, “Watch this.” He again offers Tommy a ten and a twenty, and again Tommy chooses the ten.
Both men chuckle, and then call over Tommy’s dad. Grandpa again offers a ten and a twenty, and Tommy gleefully takes the ten.
Dad takes Tommy aside. “Son, don’t you know twenty is more than ten?”
“Sure,” says Tommy. “But if I took the twenty, Grandpa wouldn’t keep playing the game. Now I have forty dollars.”

A man was riding his bicycle down the street when he noticed a little boy standing in a yard next to the curb with a lawn mower. He asked the little boy what he was doing, to which the little boy replied, “I want to sell this mower so I can buy a bicycle.”
The man said, “Well son I need a lawn mower and I have this bicycle. Why don’t we just trade?” The man watched as the happy little boy disappeared around the corner, then he proceeded to walk down the street with his lawn mower.
The rest is a bit blurry, but his wife picked him up at the police station for stealing an old lady’s lawn mower.

I know I am getting older. Just this morning I was thinking what my life was like ten, twenty, even thirty minutes ago.

Have a great day and God bless!
