Muffin’s Mewsings #8.

Hi everyone, Muffin here again! Wow, it been two weeks since my last “Mewsings”, my human just keep forgetting. But 2 weeks not as bad as month like other time. And my human have so many bandages on feet it hard to find place to remind him. Oh well, I here now. Did I ever tell about time my human drop knife? I tell again just in case. Getting bad like my human, not remember things, that bad. Oh well. Anyway, he cutting something on counter and he throw knife in air. He say he drop knife. I say if he drop knife, why it go up? Drop means something go down, not up. Anyway, that day he not wear slippers, only have socks on feet. Ohhh, this not good. But knife land right beside foot, could not get closer, and it stick in floor!

I say I want red flowers and he give me this, guess it part red. He call it a germanymum or something like that.

My ears go straight up! I ask why he have such sharp knife when he know he drop things all the time. He say that it necessary to cut his food. My ears go straight up again. I tell him he need to take cooking lessons so he not need such sharp knife to cut food he cook. His food does get kinda tough sometimes. Good thing I got sharp teeth. Sometimes birds not even want to eat his food. Sigh. My poor human. But he real nice though, he always like to share his food with me. Like yesterday, he come into living room but forget fork for food, so he put plate of food on my scratching post. He do that a lot. My scratching post have big flat top on it, so plate fit nicely.

This another germanymum, least it red this time, I like these.

He come back and put fork on table beside chair. Why he not put plate on table you ask? Because too much stuff on table that shouldn’t be on table. It always like that. But I digress. See? I learn new word. Digress. Not know what it mean, but it sound good and I think I use it right. But I digress. hehehehe! So anyway, he pick up plate, then dump food on floor. Then he stand there holding plate and looking at food. What he think? Food going to jump back on plate by itself? I ask him why he not pick it up and put on plate. He look at me and say, it no good now, full of cat hair. My ears go straight up! What wrong with a little cat hair in food? He trying to say there something wrong with my fur? Ohhhhh, not nice! He say back of leg still sore today. It his fault for insulting me like that, not nice to do.

But anyway, there nice cauliflower, my favorite veggie, yum! And ham! Yum, yum! He just sit and watch me eat. Very strange behavior. My tummy so full after eating all that. There was rice too! Yum again! After I finish then he clean up the rest and put in garbage. Imagine waste all that food. Then he go and make French fries. Why you do that? Because he say he hungry. If he so hungry why he dump his plate of food on floor for me? Very strange behavior indeed. But he do lots of strange things. Like feeding all those chipmunks and squirrels, make them real fat, but does he ever catch them and bring them in for supper?

Not quite sure if this one red, not know how to pronounce this name, so I call it red daisy like sorta flower.

No, I could have fresh meat instead of that mush that come from can that he call ‘cat food’. Not know what it is, it just mush. So he get me some chunky meat cat food. The gravy good, but those chunky meat things I think they make from that cat mush and put glue in to hold together. It certainly not real meat. Taste terrible. The mush stuff is better. Especially at 3am. Best time to eat mush stuff. My human not agree. Very strange behavior. Oh well. I ask my human to let me use pretty flower pics, he have pretty flower pics on his post, I want them too. He say okay, and I not even have to bite, all I did was yawn. That all for today everyone, like my human always say, “have wonderful day and God bless”!

Sunday’s Sunshine #5.

Good morning on this first Sunday of May! It’s sunny and mild, a beautiful spring morning! The trees are full of bright yellow birds, they are taking a short break from eating. Oops, they are starting to come back down now. Plus there are several purple finches here now, 4 bright red males and at least 3 females that are brown striped birds, looking much like a sparrow but with a larger beak. I really wish they would change the name of this finch to something more appropriate. Even the experts agree it is a raspberry red, though in the spring it looks even brighter red. So why purple? Because it looks purple they say, when you get it in just the right light conditions. Obviously not in the light conditions we get.

A nice golden Iceland poppy.

Oh well. It’s still a beautiful little bird anyway. And there are still so many evening grosbeaks around. Their numbers had gone down a bit for a few days, but they are now back up to around 80 birds. I haven’t had this many evening grosbeaks at my feeder for about 15 years. It’s great! And I’m getting some great pictures of them too. The first white-throated sparrow showed up on Friday, yesterday there was about 2 dozen of them, even more this morning. And both varieties are here now too. There is the bright black and white striped variety and the kind of dusky looking striped variety.

A single pink geranium flower.

At one time it was thought the dusky variety were the females, but now they know that there are males and females in both varieties and they will often breed together, so they are one species. Jasper wasn’t been too cooperative this morning and kept going to the bird’s feeder instead of his own. So I had to go out and talk to him about that, finally after the third time he listened to me and went to his feeder so the birds could come back down again. The third time I went out I spotted a different bird in the birch tree. It was a gray catbird! That’s early, they don’t usually come back until mid May.

A full geranium flower cluster.

They are basically a solid gray bird with a black cap on top of their head. And they mew like a cat, very cat like actually. They can also mimic other bird songs very well. They are in the same family as mockingbirds. There is a pair of them that nest close by every year but I have yet to get a picture of one. I missed this morning too, he just didn’t stay in the tree long enough for me to get focused in on him. But hopefully this one will stay around, it would be a good time to get a picture since there are no leaves out yet. Normally when they come back the leaves are out, and they like to stay hidden. So, maybe this year I will get a picture. I hope you have a wonderful spring Sunday and God bless!
