For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
“What do you think?,” asked John. “It will work, Steve is too honest to try anything, he said you would get the merchandise, so you will.” “Good”, said John, “now to figure out how to finish this PI once and for all!” “Why not just shoot him?” “That’s too quick and easy,” said John again, “he wanted to be left in the ghost town, so that’s what we will do.” “If you just tie him up he’ll get away again.” “Nope, this time we tie them up with wire, not even those crazy cats will be able to help him then,” and John laughed at the thought. “I’m just surprised that he never caught on to this,” said John. “That’s because I played my part so well, why would he even think that all this was arranged just to get him?” “Well, getting him and Ma,” John said happily, “now I won’t need to worry about anything.” “Plus you get me.” “Hey, I sure won’t forget that, you and I make a fantastic team,” said John with a big smile.

“I better get back to bed, we have to get an early start.” John came and woke us up at 3 am, must be a long trip back to that ghost town. We were all put in the back of a van so we couldn’t see anything and off we went. It was a long and uncomfortable 6 hour drive, but we finally arrived. I pointed out the building we were at when I told the cats to hide the drugs. So we all walked over there and I told the cats to go and get it all. They went and started hauling back these little plastic bags of drugs. “It’s certainly taking them a long time,” said Karin very impatiently. “Well they didn’t exactly hide everything in one place, I told them not to do that. Spreading the stuff around would make it harder to find,” I reminded her. “You should know how long it took them,” growled John. “I was tired at the time and was asleep, and Steve never even told me about it,” she yelled back.

“That’s because we had you pegged by that time and didn’t want to tell you too much, just enough to keep you going until we could find out who was behind all this,” I said to her. “I never thought it was John, but it certainly worked out good anyway,” I added. “You knew that far back?,” Karin asked, “I don’t believe it! “You were good at your acting, but not good enough,” I said. John was getting so red I thought he would literally explode. “You idiot!,” he bellowed, “Steve was just using you to get me and you didn’t even know it!” “That’s all I ever get around me,” he continued to shout, “just a bunch of idiots!” “Don’t think you have won,” yelled Karin to me, “you’re the biggest idiot here, as well as being pitiful and laughable to think that I would be interested in you!” “Actually I didn’t think you were interested,” I said to Karin. “Where’s those stupid cats!,” yelled John, and he had one of his bodyguards shoot his shotgun in the air.

Meanwhile…meow, meow?=Where are you Mr. Cat? Oh, there you are, what you do up there? Meow.=Um, looking around. Meow, meow!=You got scared of big noise and jump up there to hide. Meow.=You hide too. Meow, meow.=I know, noise scary. Now come down so we can finish. Meow.=Okay, I’m coming. Meow, meow.=It good idea my human have to hide these here, they new ones we can put on ourselves. Meow.=Yep, these backpacks very nice. Hey, that tight! Meow, meow.=Straps need to be tight, now you do mine nice and tight. Meow?=Okay, how that? Meow, meow=Perfect, now let’s go quick. The cats got themselves in position and…thwock! One of the bodyguards fell. Everyone looked in that direction and…thwock! The other bodyguard fell.
“It’s those cats!”, screamed Karin. Right then the sirens blared and a loud voice telling John and Karin to drop their guns. “How did they know?”, asked Karin. “It’s all your fault!,” yelled John. “No!, it’s Steve’s fault!,” she screamed. She pulled out another gun to shoot me but one of the police officers shot her first. I then explained to John that Muffin has a special collar which has a transmitter so she can call for help anytime. We just needed to find you first and then last night she called for the police to follow her transmitter to this spot. Then we just had to stall a bit to give them time to get here. John said, “you expect me to believe that cat can talk to the police?” “Not all police, just one over in Italy, and last night she was meowing in Italian which is why Karin didn’t understand what Muffin was saying,” I explained. Poor John, his whole operation foiled by two cats. I doubt he will want to tell anyone that! Karin survived, and she was put in prison for life, as was John.

Here we are, home sweet home. I just fell into my chair with both cats on my lap, their heads side by side and their tails around each other. That case was certainly more than we had planned and it was so nice to just be able to relax for awhile. But, after a couple of weeks…meow, meow.=we need new case, not make money on that last one. Meow.=Yes, food almost gone, that not good, don’t like diets. Meow, meow.=Me too not like diets. This time we need case that give us money. “Well,” I said, “here’s something that came in the mail today.” Meow, meow!=Let me see, let me see! Hey, that handwritten letter, I said before that mean people not have money, say no to case, we need money for food! Rip, rip, tear, tear, shred, shred! “I think we’ll take the case anyway, we need something,” I said. Both cats gave a huge sigh.

Good morning everyone and Happy Winter! Actually, winter really began about a week ago when temps stayed below freezing night and day. But some people might not agree with that idea. However, today no one could disagree that winter is here. Just have to look at the pics today. We received nearly 4 and a half inches (11cm) of snow overnight. That means winter to me. I don’t go by the “official” season designations on the calendar, they just don’t apply up here in the north. October 21, winter has arrived. Yes, it does look beautiful at times. From inside. Though many people up this way say they love winter. I have heard a lot of people say that. Right before they begin discussing their plans to head south for the next 5 months. This winter it seems we can expect at least 6 months of winter. Minor detail. We northerners can handle it. Right.

The poor birds out there this morning were not too happy. There are around 100 or more little juncos. They feed on seeds on the ground. The ground is covered with snow. They look like big ants crawling around on the ground desperately looking for food. Good thing I can help them out a bit, but when I toss seeds out for them they just sink in the snow and the birds can’t get them anyway. So I spread seeds on the deck and they come up here.

It is a very busy morning at the feeders, there is easily about 250 birds out there altogether. Hungry birds. Good thing I bought extra bird seed on Monday. I haven’t seen Theodore yet, that’s kind of odd. Jasper was here when it was just starting to get light. His first time with snow. He was having fun though. Running along the branches, knocking snow onto the ground. Then coming down and tunneling through the snow. Just wasn’t enough light for taking pictures right then however. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the snowy pics for today. Have a wonderful day and God bless!
