For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Last night laying in bed, I couldn’t sleep so was thinking about my mystery story and the cats, and this poem came to mind. Enjoy!
Cats Are Cats.
We cats like to run and play,
Sometimes laze around all day.
Eating plants and breaking stuff,
Till we just have had enough.
Cats are cats.
We can make our humans jump,
And bump their head with a thump!
They like to join all the fun,
But they don’t last, soon they’re done.
Cats are cats.
We cats also like to eat,
Then we go and bite some feet!
And, of course, we like to climb,
And make our own silly rhyme!
Cats are cats.

After Kathy and Muffin were awake for a few minutes it started to come back to them as to what happened. Meow, meow.=I accident pushed the door closed and we not able to open it. Yes, said Kathy, that’s right, so we came back here to find someone to help us. When we got back we were thirsty from running all the way and tired, so Clara brought me some lemonade and water for Muffin, plus some freshly made cake. Meow, meow!=Yes, cake very good, still warm from oven, after eating I get very tired and fall asleep. I was feeling tired too, said Kathy, so I carried Muffin to my bed and lay down with her and fell asleep. All of you wait here while I go check something, I said, and Mr. Cat, stay ready. He had his backpack on so was ready with his slingshot. After a few minutes I returned to the room, Kathy was sitting in a chair with both cats on her lap.
I found out something interesting, I said. I asked Clara for a piece of that cake and she looked surprised and said she hadn’t baked a cake today. She said you two just came back and went straight to your room and said you didn’t want to be disturbed. Kathy jumped up and said “What?!” Meow, meow!=That not true, human Clara not telling truth, she make it look like we lie! That not nice! I go bite her feet! Meow!=I go with you Muffin, we both bite feet, I bite right, you bite left. Meow, meow.=You bite right foot last time, my turn this time. Meow.=No, I bite right leg last time, not foot. Meow, meow.=Oh, that right, you did, okay, you can bite right foot then, let’s go. Meow.=The foot biter team at work. Hold it you two, you’re not going anywhere. This is no time for biting feet. Meow.=Seem like good time to me. Meow, meow.=Yeah, no time like now, let’s go Mr. Cat.

No, you are not going right now, maybe later, we need to talk about some things, but not here, let’s go outside. Good idea, said Kathy, let’s go sit at one of the tables on the lawn. Once outside I suggested going down to the beach because the 3 young guys were sitting at a table on the lawn, and all the tables are quite close together. Okay, said Kathy, there are some chairs there for us to use. Meow, meow!=Good, we run and play in sand! Meow!=No, I said no sand! Sand get in fur and that mean big bath! Not want big bath! We talk first and then you can run and play, I said. We can’t trust Clara anymore, she’s in on this, whatever is going on here. That is just so hard to believe, said Kathy, I thought for sure I could trust her. Well, not after what she did today, I said, from now on we only trust each other, so be careful what you say around any of the employees here.

There is only 2 other employees here now that John quit. He mentioned one time that his brother had been killed by a PI at some estate in the US. Meow!=That why he look the same! Yes, I knew he couldn’t be the same man. You’re the one that killed his brother?, asked Kathy. With a little help, I said. Have you ever been in the attic? Only once, just to look and see what was there, it’s filled with all kinds of junk. It would take weeks to go through it all, said Kathy. Well, that’s where we go next and see if we can find out what those 3 guys are looking for. How do we know if we find it since we don’t even know what to look for?, she asked. That does make it more challenging, I said.

I figure they found out some more information about that treasure, perhaps there was a map mentioned somewhere. Or perhaps in the history of this hotel a map was mentioned. That’s about the only thing I can think of that they might want. How many entrances to the attic? Two, said Kathy, but one is locked on the inside, so there’s really only one way in right now. Good, I said, first thing is to put a good lock on the door and then we go look for a map or something that might give us a clue. This is definitely not going to be easy when we are just guessing about what to look for in the attic. But that is our only clue at the moment, there is interest in the attic so there must be something up there. Meow, meow.=Someone still watching us, but it not 3 men at table. Then who?, I thought to myself.
To Be Continued.
