Daily Pics #227.

Good morning everyone! Happy Friday as well! It is a nice warm morning but the temperature isn’t going to change much today. And it’s mainly cloudy, but no sign of rain yet. There were some thunderstorms moved through the area last night, but not a drop of rain for us here. Perhaps other areas received some rain. But more thunderstorms are in the forecast for later in the day. Only one gull was here this morning, Sir Henry, not sure what happened to the others. Lots of purple finches and goldfinches are around now and they stay out here most of the day. Chickadees are now regular visitors again. Baxter and Betty, 2 of my blue jays, have returned now too, but they don’t hang around long. They each take a peanut and they are gone again. If they don’t do that the crows chase them around trying to get the peanut from them. Those crows have become a real pest unfortunately. They are even trying to chase the gulls away now, maybe that’s why I have lost some.

I put peanuts out this morning and Coffee was first to find out. He got the whole batch for himself this time, which is nice. Skamper joined him for the second batch of peanuts. Now all the chipmunks are busy gathering peanuts and Rocky (squirrel) is nowhere in sight. Two of the chipmunks, Pocket and Skamper went into their feeding box at the same time, from different sides, they both jumped up and took off running in opposite directions. I guess Pocket didn’t realize who came in the other side, of the two, Pocket is the boss. Oops, Rocky just arrived and the chase is on, running around the flower pots with Pocket jumping off the deck. Rocky tried to stop himself and almost did it, but, down he went with a plop on the ground. While he was learning to fly, 2 other chipmunks arrived, got their peanuts and left. Rocky came back, grabbed a peanut and he left. But by the time he returned all the peanuts were gone. I wonder if he will ever learn, it just doesn’t pay to chase the chipmunks.

For our pics today I am sharing a couple more views of the area down by the river. I am sorting my flower pics at the moment so we will be looking at other pics for a couple of days. I hope you all have a fabulous Friday and God bless!

Daily Pics #226.

Good morning on this very beautiful August day! The sun is shining, it is warm, and it’s windy. Well, the windy part is not so good. The wind started up around 10 last night and has been quite strong all night. That is not good for the forest fires. There are now 32 forest fires, 25 are not under control. That one fire has moved to within one mile of that town. This wind could make things bad up there. No fires close to us right now. The chipmunks came back yesterday afternoon and they were here this morning until Jasper’s twin showed up, now they have disappeared again. So he is the reason. But he might end up being as much fun as Runner. Jasper 2, now named Rocky, came this morning and spotted a chipmunk just leaving. The chase was on and chipmunk (Skamper) jumped, so did Rocky. However, Rocky was in a hurry and not quite used to jumping yet so he didn’t do too well and kind of landed with a flop.

He also lost sight of Skamper so came back right away only to find Chester filling up with peanuts. Chester ran, so did Rocky, around the flower pots and it looked like he was going to jump. But just as Rocky got there Chester ran off to the side and poor Rocky had no time to stop. Over the went, while Chester scampered off to safety. Rocky comes back, grabs a peanut and off he goes. When he comes back, Skamper is there again and the chase is on. Skamper jumped over to one of the tall raspberry plants (about 7 feet tall) and ran down the plant to the ground and disappeared. I guess Rocky figured if he can do it so can I. So he tried. And he slid down the raspberry plant. Poor Rocky. He came back up, scratch, scratch, (saying to himself, prickles, those things have prickles), he takes 2 jumps, scratch, scratch. I think he learned something new today. Muffin and I were watching, and laughing. Just couldn’t help it.

Well, for our flowers today are two different colors of petunias, I hope you enjoy them. Have a wonderful day and God bless!
