For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Here we are in the living room going through piles of brochures, trying to find a place to go for our vacation. Not an easy thing to do when we all want to go somewhere different. Here’s a good spot, I said, it’s in Iceland. Both cats ears go straight up! Meow, meow!?=Iceland? Why you want to go someplace full of ice? No ice! No Iceland! Meow!=Me say NO to ice too, no want ice, want warm place. I have nice place here. Meow, meow?=What place that? Meow.=Nice mountain place, good view of valley and have nice old castle to explore. Muffin’s ears go straight up! Meow, meow?!=Old castle? That mean ghosts! No old castles! No ghosts! Meow.=It not say ghosts. Meow, meow!=Of course it not say ghosts, scare people away, no castles! Then she goes over and takes Mr. Cat’s brochure. Rip, rip, shred, shred. Mr. Cat just stares at the little pieces of paper. Meow.=You rip my brochure.

Meow, meow.=I got best place. It have palm trees and beach. Meow?=What we do with palm trees and beach? Meow, meow.=We run and play on sand and climb palm trees. Meow?!=Climb palm trees? Last time I climb tree get stuck for whole day. Strange man on ladder come and rescue me. NO trees! And sand get in fur, hard to clean without big bath. No sand! Then he goes over to Muffin’s brochure. Rip, rip, shred, shred. Muffin just stares at the tiny bits of paper. Meow, meow.=He rip my brochure. Okay you two, I have something here that we will all like. It has a nice big hotel, also palm trees and a small beach. Plus it has kind of an old castle to explore as well, although most of it has fallen down now. Take a look. And we get 2 weeks for the price of one. Both cats ears go straight up! Meow, meow?=Why the good deal? They must want something. Meow.=Yep, I agree, must want us to work on case. This vacation, no time for case. Meow, meow.=Right, no time for case, say no to that one. They both grab the brochure and rip it to pieces.

Hmm, this isn’t easy. But, after only 4 days we decide on a nice cozy hotel with it’s own private beach and they accept pets gladly. We were able to get a place right away since this is not the busy season for them so we are on the plane heading for 2 weeks of nice relaxation in the sunny warm place. Meow, meow?=What language they speak? French is the main language, but they speak English as well, I said. Meow?=You can meow French? Meow, meow.=Yep, started to learn after first case in France. I can meow Italian quite good now too. Meow.=Wow, that cool, maybe I should learn too. I felt a little bad turning down that case, but the cats are right, we do need a break.

The poor cats just kept pacing back and forth waiting for us to arrive at our destination. I finally convinced them to have a nap. Time went by a lot faster and we were soon at the airport and the hotel shuttle service was there to pick us up. Soon we were speeding down this road to the hotel. And I do mean speeding. That was a very winding road, but it didn’t deter our driver any, he kept his speed the same all the way. The look on the cats faces as we were speeding around some of those curves looking down at the ocean below us. I didn’t think their eyes could get so big! But we made it in one piece, which was amazing, and finally we are unpacking in our very nice and spacious room.

We made it just in time for dinner too and there was only one other table occupied besides us. It was 3 young men, who looked like the outdoor types. Meow?=They keep looking at us, we look funny or something? Meow, meow.=It make me nervous, they always look. Maybe they don’t see cats eating at the table where they live. Meow?=Where they expect us to eat, on floor? Don’t worry about them, we’re here to relax, remember?, I reminded them. The hotel was like a big old country home with a large porch. It was somewhat hidden among the palm trees, but there was also a nice large lawn and flower garden area, all very nicely kept. The place was owned by a young woman, a widow. Her husband committed suicide a year ago. We haven’t met her yet. It was getting late so we headed to bed. The cats were asleep quickly, but not me, there was something wrong, I could feel it.
To be continued.

Good morning everyone and Happy Monday to you all as well! It is a fabulous, though cool, sunny morning here today. The birds are actually quite active this morning. Sir Charles was here for his breakfast when it was just getting some daylight out there, even the crows weren’t here yet. So I took some food out for him which he enjoyed without interruption from the crows trying to get on the feeder. A couple of the crows have gotten very brave and will go on the feeder with the gulls. That is something that Sir George and Sir Henry do not tolerate. Even Sir Charles is starting to chase them off. Jasper, the squirrel, was here quite early too and kind of chased the chipmunks a bit, but he doesn’t get too involved with that, he just wants the peanuts. Why waste time chasing chipmunks when food is available?
All 7 chipmunks were here again this morning and Coffee was first as usual. When he’s early then he can relax a bit and he chews open the peanuts to take the delicious peanut inside. By doing that he can take 3 peanuts, but when the other chipmunks start coming then he just grabs one and leaves fast! But, I haven’t seen Skamper, my most friendly chipmunk, since Friday, which is not good. However, with chipmunks that can happen sometimes because they need to make their homes a little larger to hold the bounty of food. Peanuts do take up a lot of space. Then they return again. But they are never gone longer than a few days, so we’ll soon see if Skamper returns or not. The new squirrel hasn’t been here since Saturday. I think Jasper likes that, he can relax more too. I was going to be early with my post this morning, but had some computer problems. I’m no good with computer problems. And I can’t do posts on my phone, just too small. Oh well. It’s a beautiful morning. And I didn’t even tell about all the activity this morning.
The featured image at the top is a fawn out for an early morning breakfast with it’s mother. He was standing next to a house in the picture, a very common sight in this town.

Then in the picture above is a family, or two, of geese going for a morning swim at the beach. Both deer and geese are a common sight in our town, but they are still a joy to see. I hope you all have a marvelous Monday and God bless!
