Coffee With Steve, Muffin And Friends #3.

Hello everyone and welcome back to our coffee time together! This is a time each week that Muffin and I really enjoy, because we get to spend some time with all of you, our friends! And get to enjoy talking together over a nice cup of hot coffee, or tea, hot chocolate and today, some nice raspberry leaf tea. Even though today is rather rainy and cool, the day I took these pics was beautiful, sunny and warm. Today we will visit Memorial Park, which is right on the shore of a bay of our beautiful lake. A lot of people launch their boats here to get out onto the lake and many keep their boats here all summer at the marina.

Hi Pene, nice to see you here today. Hi Tiffany, I see Muffin is running over to you quickly. And here comes Rossana and Alessia, so nice to see you both again. Hello Outosego, nice that you could join us today. Hi Eugenia and Lydia too. Hi Cindy and Ally, so happy you could make it. Hi Sheree, so glad you could come again. Oh, here comes Muffin to greet you also, I think you might have spoiled her a bit last time! The park itself is small but very nice and hardly ever used by anyone, even though it is easily accessible. There is a nice little picnic shelter to use if you don’t want to sit in the sun and some nice shade trees as well if you don’t mind sitting on the grass or some rocks. And if you prefer the sun there is a large open area just perfect for soaking up that sunshine.

Hi Robbie and Richard, I’m so glad you could make it today. Sitting here we get to enjoy the many birds singing in the trees around us. And look at the beautiful pink blossoms on those mock cherry trees over there. A robin is singing cheerfully in that maple tree, a solitary vireo is singing from another tree. Even though so accessible it is still possible to find some wildflowers in this park. Over here by these rocks is some columbine, such a beautiful flower too. And over here is some nice light blue forget-me-nots. These flowers seem to be everywhere. They really are a garden flower, but over the years have escaped from gardens and are now well established growing wild.

Don’t forget to help yourself to the coffee and goodies everyone, there’s enough for all I’m sure. I brought some maple cupcakes today, Muffin put in that order, she loves those. Oh, look up in the sky everyone! Right over there against that beautiful blue are 5 pelicans just soaring in circles. Isn’t that a wonderful sight? They are about the largest bird we have with wingspans up to 10 feet (about 3 meters). It certainly has turned out to be a perfect day for our coffee time, with lots to see and hear, but best of all is the time we can have talking and getting to know more about each other. I hope you have enjoyed today as much as Muffin and I have. I think Muffin has been around to say hi to everyone, she’s getting braver all the time. I hope you will come again next week as we get to enjoy another location for our coffee time. Have a wonderful day everyone and God bless!

Daily Pics #161.

Good morning on this another wet and stormy morning! Poor Muffin is not having a good time. We had some severe thunderstorms again last night, most of the night in fact. Now they have started again this morning. We are supposed to get another 2 inches of rain this morning and more throughout the day and tomorrow. So I’m enjoying my coffee indoors right now. Wow, that lightning hit close! Oddly Muffin is staying close to me right now instead of going under the bed. Not much wind in this storm which is kind of odd too. Lots of lightning and thunder however. And rain.

I went for a walk to the river yesterday afternoon. Didn’t think I would make it, but I did, though I managed to get very wet feet in the process. I have never seen so much water on that path. Even last fall when we had that record amount of rain, it still wasn’t this bad. But that rain came in smaller amounts too which helped. When you get 4 and 6 inches at a time it fills those low areas fast. I won’t be walking along there again until probably next week. The river was more than a foot higher than it was, likely be 2 feet today. There was one large white pine that had been blown down by the wind and is now partially lying in the river. I did see three families of geese down there and a family of ducks. Terrible that I will need to stay away for another week right now. Oh well, let’s take a look at some nice flowers now…

In the above pic are some lilacs, this is the most common color around here, but there is also dark purple and white. This color however, has the nicest scent of them all.

And in the above pic are bleeding hearts. These were a very common flower in gardens years ago apparently but don’t seem to be very popular now. They are a very hardy flower for our climate. There we have our pics to hopefully bring a little sunshine into your day. I hope you all have a wonderful day and God bless!
