Hello everyone on this chilly Monday!  At least it is for us anyway.  But I won’t get into that, it’s time to continue our summer walk to the river, and stop a bit for coffee and cookies.  So, let’s get walking…

Here we are at the river and a very nice warm spot to sit and enjoy our coffee, cookies and other goodies that others have brought along today.  I brought along some gluten free cookies, Sharon brought her gumdrop loaf and I know Sheree brought more delicious goodies too.  There is lots of grass in this location to sit on, plus some nice size rocks just perfect for sitting.  I also brought blankets and some folding stools for those who would prefer not to sit on the ground.  We are right along the shore of the river here, nice and sunny, but there is also a couple of nice shady areas if you don’t like sitting in the sun.

There isn’t much wind right now so the river is fairly calm.  The river comes winding it’s way through the rocky area which is called the “Canadian Shield”.  All through this area it’s very rocky hills, not much soil and an amazing number of lakes of all sizes.  Plus a lot of streams and some rivers too.

Oh, look over there, that’s mother merganser and her brood of little ones.  I have showed pics of them before, mama has her head down looking underwater for some minnows for lunch to feed her family.  And did you notice over to the left?  There is a female mallard duck standing on a rock that is just covered with a little water.

And out there a little farther along the other shore is a beautiful “white pelican”.  We have a lot of pelicans on the lake and they also enjoy spending time on the river, it’s very good fishing here.

Anyone for more coffee?  Don’t have quite the selection today, it’s a little hard to carry too many things on a walk like this.  But there is tea, mint tea and hot chocolate too if you don’t like coffee.  This is such a beautiful spot here and hardly anyone comes walking on this path which makes it even nicer.

This is really a fantastic spot to come, sit and relax for a while.  Sitting here watching the river and the wildlife around is really perfect for relieving stress and worry.  Here it is easy to forget about problems for a while and just drink in the calmness of the setting.  Lay back and look at the sky, watch those fluffy white clouds as they sail past, constantly changing shape.  I’m sure many of you, as kids, would lie down and watch the clouds, trying to see different shapes.  Even adults can do such things and just enjoy some time with nature for a while.

Time does go by fast, so I guess we will need another post to walk back and see what we can find on our return journey.  Until then, thank you for coming along today, I sure hope you have enjoyed yourself.  Have a wonderful day, please stay safe and God bless!

Are you all packed Muffin?  Meow!=Yep, ready!  Are you sure that you didn’t forget anything?  Meow, meow.=I not the one that forget, you are.  Um, well, sometimes I guess. Meow, meow.=You forget something every case.  Meow.=Let me check.  Fine, take a look, everything is there.  Meow, meow.=You forget flashlight, batteries, gun, matches.  Okay, one or two items.  But I don’t need a gun this time, our client will be providing one.  Meow?=Who is client?  I still don’t know, everything is being handled by the person’s lawyer.  But whoever it is paid for our trip, accommodations and our pay in full.  Plus we get payed again after the case is solved.  That’s not bad Muffin.  Meow, meow?=You put money into bank?  Yes, I did, don’t worry, and here’s the flashlights and batteries.  Meow?=Special tool?  Oops, don’t want to forget that one.

Meow, meow?=You know where we going yet?  Yes, it’s a big old stone house in England.  Meow, meow?!=Old house? That mean ghosts, forget it, we unpack.  Muffin, there are no ghosts, this is just a simple case.  Meow, meow?=If simple case, why they be so generous with money?  I don’t know, the client was just eager to have someone trustworthy and we came highly recommended.  Meow, meow?=Who would recommend us?  Very funny Muffin.  Meow, meow?=We call Jessica, invite her to come with us?  No Muffin, we talked about this before.  I need you to keep a clear head on this case, right?  Meow!=Yep, all set! Besides, she’s not a PI, she wouldn’t like it, this could be dangerous.  Meow, meow.=You said this was simple case, not dangerous one.

We’re not calling her anyway.  And stop sighing so much, we haven’t even left yet.  It was a bit of a problem at the airport again, trying to get Muffin on the plane.  Why don’t people learn?  That guy never should have said, “you want to bring that thing on the plane?”  I bet his scream could be heard all over the airport.  Because of that Muffin has to stay in her cage, but does get her own seat beside me.  Once the plane is high over the ocean I look over and Muffin is looking out the window.  Didn’t take her long to open the door on that cage.  The flight attendant was very nice and told us she wouldn’t say anything about Muffin as long as she behaved.  We both promised she would.

I begin thinking about his case, I must admit it’s a bit odd.  I don’t even know what the case is, I don’t know who we are working for.  I do know the lawyer said there is an element of danger, but what does that mean?  Normally I wouldn’t accept such a blind case, I like to have things laid out clearly from the start.  But, the money was kind of handy right now, it’s been 2 months since our last case.  We need to eat, and the rent was due.  Sigh.  Muffin seems to be okay with it though, so that’s good.  Hope I didn’t forget anything.  Muffin did go through my suitcase and backpack quite thoroughly.  What a mess, I had to repack everything.  Sigh.

Now where did Muffin go, she’s going to get us in trouble.  Finally she comes back with a wallet.  Great, now what?  Meow, meow=Look in wallet, man put paper in there.  I take a look.  Hmm, it’s a note, “JR must be stopped quickly, use any means you want.”  Then there was 2 addresses, so I copied them down, not really sure why, part of the profession I guess.  Oh well, Muffin takes the wallet back and returns quickly.  We still have a few hours, it’s dark, time to get some sleep.  But how can I sleep when I keep thinking….
