Welcome To Coffee With Steve!

Hello everyone on this sunny, but chilly day here at Steve’s Country.  It’s noon and the temp is -20C (-4F), the sun is shining, there are ice crystals in the air which make everything sparkle so brilliantly.  They also make everything so cold.  At least there isn’t much wind today, so that helps a lot.  Wind always makes it feel so much colder.  All the birds look so much bigger now as they fluff out their feathers trying to stay warm.  And waiting for their energy food from my feeders.  Always so amazing watching the chickadees and nuthatches out there in this cold.  They are so small and yet manage to survive our harsh winters.  One reason they are both tops on my list of favorite birds.  And, of course, the fact that they are so friendly.IMG_0428

We had our coffee series this summer in the area parks, and other spots, but…now it’s too cold for that.

Therefore, we will have…

Coffee indoors at my place for a while.  It probably won’t be every week, but we will do it as long as possible through the winter.  Above are 3 items that I made, on top of the welcome sign is a squirrel though he doesn’t show up too well. I made that too.  In the summer I change that to a robin.

A catbird at my feeder. Hmm, a male caller for Muffin.

Thank you…

Sheree for bringing along some of your delicious homemade crispy butter shortbread cookies for us today!  The perfect cookie for a hot cup of coffee on a cold day.  If any of you would like to bring along some of your homemade cookies/cake/muffins for our coffee time just let me know and I will definitely give you a mention here on our coffee post.  Perhaps you would even be willing to share some of your amazing cookie recipes with us here.  You would definitely be given full credit for that, just let me know.

I don’t know anything about him, says Muffin.

I will be giving you all…

A tour of my place during these coffee times, plus talk about other things too as the days go by.  I will show you some of my many collections as we go along and some of the crafty things I have made such as the items in the first picture.  Does anyone need a refill of coffee yet?  Yes, there is tea and hot chocolate as well.  I see Dusty is looking for more coffee, and I know Sheree likes hers strong and black.  How about you Renee?  There, nice and hot for this cold winter day.

Just an introduction…

To our new series today.  Muffin is also thinking about something new to start soon.  I will let you know about that too when she is ready.  Right now she is sleeping here with me on the chair.  Good thing it’s just big enough for the 2 of us.  I hope you all have a wonderful day and God bless!

Nature’s Art #6.

Hello everyone on this very frosty Monday!  It’s cold out there today.  A good day to stay indoors and drink coffee!  Lots of coffee.  And dream about warm weather, sunshine and palm trees.  Muffin agrees.  She doesn’t even want to spend much time close to the window on a day like this.  Although her dreams are likely a bit different.  Warm weather, open windows and chipmunks.  That’s a nice thought too actually.  Sitting on the deck early in the morning with a cup of coffee.  A long time before that will happen again.  Meantime, here is some autumn pics of those leaves I showed before, but in a different color…IMG_8409

Whatever color they turn is the color they stay until the plant dies.  Quite interesting really how that works.IMG_7914

There is one more color yet, maybe two.  Interesting plants anyway and a nice addition to art in nature.  I hope you all have a great Monday and God bless!
