Daily Pics #29.

Iceland poppy

Good morning everyone on this another frigid morning here in the north country!  Still, this winter is not as bad as the last 3 winters, at least so far.  But it’s still cold.  It’s -25C (-13F), but feels like -35C (-31F) with the wind.  Too cold to be outside to enjoy things.  In summer it’s possible to just walk outside and enjoy the warmth.  Now it’s necessary to put on layers of clothes, heavy jackets, winter boots, gloves, winter hat.  And I’m not even outside for very long.  I was outside for a while this afternoon trying to get pictures of birds who did not want to cooperate today.  Sigh.  Then back inside for another cup of hot coffee and a warm Muffin by my side.  Not bad at all. So, now on to the pictures…IMG_3490

Nothing brighter than some nice daffodils on a cold winter day.IMG_5695

And a lovely single beauty of lavender phlox smiling so cheerfully on a warm summer day to warm up a cold winter day.

Thanks once again for joining me here this morning for some bright country smiles. I hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday and God bless!

Welcome To Coffee With Steve!

Hello everyone on this sunny, but chilly day here at Steve’s Country.  It’s noon and the temp is -20C (-4F), the sun is shining, there are ice crystals in the air which make everything sparkle so brilliantly.  They also make everything so cold.  At least there isn’t much wind today, so that helps a lot.  Wind always makes it feel so much colder.  All the birds look so much bigger now as they fluff out their feathers trying to stay warm.  And waiting for their energy food from my feeders.  Always so amazing watching the chickadees and nuthatches out there in this cold.  They are so small and yet manage to survive our harsh winters.  One reason they are both tops on my list of favorite birds.  And, of course, the fact that they are so friendly.IMG_0428

We had our coffee series this summer in the area parks, and other spots, but…now it’s too cold for that.

Therefore, we will have…

Coffee indoors at my place for a while.  It probably won’t be every week, but we will do it as long as possible through the winter.  Above are 3 items that I made, on top of the welcome sign is a squirrel though he doesn’t show up too well. I made that too.  In the summer I change that to a robin.

A catbird at my feeder. Hmm, a male caller for Muffin.

Thank you…

Sheree for bringing along some of your delicious homemade crispy butter shortbread cookies for us today!  The perfect cookie for a hot cup of coffee on a cold day.  If any of you would like to bring along some of your homemade cookies/cake/muffins for our coffee time just let me know and I will definitely give you a mention here on our coffee post.  Perhaps you would even be willing to share some of your amazing cookie recipes with us here.  You would definitely be given full credit for that, just let me know.

I don’t know anything about him, says Muffin.

I will be giving you all…

A tour of my place during these coffee times, plus talk about other things too as the days go by.  I will show you some of my many collections as we go along and some of the crafty things I have made such as the items in the first picture.  Does anyone need a refill of coffee yet?  Yes, there is tea and hot chocolate as well.  I see Dusty is looking for more coffee, and I know Sheree likes hers strong and black.  How about you Renee?  There, nice and hot for this cold winter day.

Just an introduction…

To our new series today.  Muffin is also thinking about something new to start soon.  I will let you know about that too when she is ready.  Right now she is sleeping here with me on the chair.  Good thing it’s just big enough for the 2 of us.  I hope you all have a wonderful day and God bless!
