Happy Friendship Day! Almost.

Hello everyone on this holiday Monday morning!  At least for us it’s a holiday.  Which is always nice to have.  First I will apologize to everyone for not answering comments yesterday and for not getting this post out yesterday as well.  After my first post on pictures our internet went down.  And it’s been off until now.  A long time.  Especially when there are things I had planned to do.  Sigh.  I hope it stays on now.  There has been a lot of problems with our internet this summer.  It’s cloudy this morning.  According to the forecast it is supposed to be sunny today.  I hope so.

Yesterday was Friendship Day and celebrated as such in many countries all around the world.  I like the idea of having a day to celebrate friendship.  After all, friendship is one of the most important things in our lives.  Many people actually don’t think friendship is important.  They would rather be loners.  Those people miss out on so much joy and love by being that way.  Some people have been betrayed by friends and so don’t trust anyone anymore.  They don’t mind having casual friends, but not close friends.  They hope to protect themselves by doing things this way.  That’s sad really.  Just because we get betrayed by someone doesn’t mean we can’t trust anybody.IMG_4996

But if we want to have good close friends, those we can truly trust, those who will be there for us when we need help, those who will love us, those that we can truly confide in, then guess what?  We need to be that kind of friend ourselves.  Why would a friend who is trustworthy want to be close to us if they can’t trust us?  Why would a friend love us if we don’t love them?  Hey, it works both ways.  If we want these kinds of friends, then we need to be that kind of friend to others.IMG_5744

Friends are not just people to hang out with if we have nothing better to do.  They should be a real part of our lives, not just a decoration to use once in a while.  Friends are precious.  Like a precious mineral.  Why is it called that?  Because it has great value.  Friends are even more precious than any mineral.  They have far greater value than any mineral.  Greater than gold, diamonds, rubies or any other mineral you want to mention.  I collect minerals.  I don’t have gold or diamonds.  But I have many of the other precious minerals.  They are beautiful to look at.  They make a wonderful collection.IMG_5825

But friends are far, far greater.  Far more precious than any of these minerals.  But how do we treat our friends?  Sad to say that many people would treat precious minerals better than their friends.  To them, these minerals are a treasure.  But in reality our friends are a much greater treasure.  When we have such friends we should hold onto them, treat them as precious, treat them as a treasure that you want to keep.IMG_3298

Well, I was hoping to have this out yesterday on Friendship Day, but due to the internet problems that just was not possible.  But I hope you will enjoy it today anyway.  After all, friendship is every day of the year.  In true friendship, even if you can’t be together, you still think about each other.  I truly appreciate all of you, my friends here.  I hope you all have a great day and God bless!

Sunday’s Pictures. #1

Good morning everyone on this beautiful, sunny Sunday!  Happy Friendship Day to all of you as well!!  A new series of Sunday pictures begins today.  Each month will be something different.  This month each Sunday I am going to post pictures of wildflowers from this area.  I won’t be saying much, except to let you know the names of each wildflower shown.IMG_3712

The one above is called a crown vetch.IMG_4579

Most of our wildflowers are white, like the bunchberry shown above.IMG_4874

One of my favorite wildflowers, the delicate pink twinflower above. It is tiny but has a beautiful scent which you can smell up to 10 ft, 3 meters, away.IMG_5713

The meadowsweet above seems to like growing by the water.  Here is one of many down by the river.

I hope you have enjoyed today’s selection.  Enjoy your Sunday and God bless!
