For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Greetings everyone from the land of heat and sun and water and friends and heat! Well, I never really thought at one time that I would be doing some posts from another country. But here I am. And where is here? Where I am. You expected more? Well, I was planning to post a picture of my hotel today and then it would be easy to figure out. Except I forgot to take a picture of this place this morning when I was out. I took a lot of pictures. And I was planning to take a picture of my hotel. But…I forgot. Maybe tomorrow. After all, still 4 days left. Can’t count today, since this day is nearly over. Back home it’s still noon hour. Weird really.

Yesterday was a fantastic day. The day of the castle. Okay, there is no castle there anymore. But there was, as I mentioned before. But what a beautiful spot. Lovely park like setting. Paths to walk on all over the place. I would probably get lost. Fortunately my guide is smarter than me. I do feel sorry for her though. She is putting up with a lot.

There is also very picturesque lookout spots for taking pictures of the beautiful scenery. Speaking of scenery. That ferry at the top of this post is huge. It may not look it. But it is. Kind of like a big floating box. Apparently it is the largest ferry/shipping company in this part of the Mediterranean Sea.

Back to the castle. I think my favorite spot was the waterfall. Absolutely beautiful. I could have sat there for a long time watching that. Except I’m sure they saw me coming and they removed all the benches from that area just before I got there. Naturally. And then while I’m taking pictures of this beautiful waterfall…the water stops falling. Like someone shut off a tap or something. I couldn’t believe it. I broke their waterfall. Hopefully no one finds out.

I have seen quite a few different birds here too. But so far I have not been able to get a picture of any. Well, I could get the pigeons and gulls. But we have those, even though they are a little different. Just a little. There is a pair of doves out here too, but they have so far stayed away from my camera as well. They are similar to our mourning doves, a little different color and they sound different. There was a large sea bird of some kind today but out of range by the time I got my camera out and focused on it. Saw some nice black and white birds at the castle, briefly, no idea what they were. Plus a couple other birds. Maybe yet.

Well, guess I will stop again for now. I hope you have enjoyed another peek at my vacation here in…a very Nice spot. Anyway, until next time, I hope you enjoy your weekend and God bless!

Hello everyone from…almost, but not yet! But I thought it was time for a brief look at my vacation paradise here in the almost tropics. I have some spare time at the moment, mainly because I am worn out from all this walking around. Now, back in Canada, we use cars. Here people walk. No matter how hot it is.

Admittedly there are a lot of vehicles here too. I don’t know where they are going with all those vehicles. There is no place to park them. Some streets are only wide enough for one vehicle, a small vehicle at that. This is so different from what I know. Kind of cool actually. If I was raised in this place it would all be quite natural. I know, I know. Where am I, right? I will let you know, but not today. I know. I’m terrible. I won’t deny that.

My trip didn’t really have the best start. The first part of my flight was good, very good and enjoyable. The second part, which was by far the longest part of the flight, was very turbulent for 3 hours. That finished me. Airsick. All night long. So I arrived at my destination rather tired. But, since it was my first day, I went ahead and did my best anyway. However, day 2, or 3 really, I was finished and ended up doing not much of anything except sleeping. After all, I walked about 550 km the previous day and I was tired.

But my guide was tired as well. That surprised me a bit. Especially since she is used to all this walking around. Today I was ready to go again though. I thought. It was definitely worth all the heat and pain. I would do it again actually. I would love to spend more time at that spot. Just not right away. I need to recover. Vacations are meant to wear a person out, not really for relaxing. Even though the two can be the same thing sometimes. I am certainly glad for the decision to come here. Especially since our winters are getting longer all the time back home. This is a nice change.

I do miss my Muffin however. But she is doing well without me apparently. Which is good. I think she is keeping track of me over here. It’s that new friend of hers that’s helping her out. I just know they talk to each other.
Well, anyway, there we have the first 3 days. I was going to include today as well, but I will maybe do that tomorrow, along with day 5. I have a lot of pictures so far and will get even more yet. That way I can keep some for using in the winter when it gets boring talking about, well, winter. Sigh. In case you are wondering, I am not on that cruise boat pictured above.
I hope you are all enjoying your week as well and God bless!
Steve.
