Sir George Is Back!

A big hello to all of you on this beautiful spring day!  I hope everyone is enjoying the return of spring.  At least, those of you who have spring, as I know some of you enjoy nice weather year round.  And…he’s back, as you probably noticed above!  Sir George is my friendly herring gull and he showed up this afternoon for a nice helping of food.  He is one big bird and he can really pack away a lot of food.  And he is still friendly, though I wasn’t able to get quite as close as last year.  But that will change soon.

Several birds…

Have now returned to join us for the summer.  The Canada geese are back, of course the crows and bald eagles returned a while ago.  There are two bald eagles circling over my deck as I type.  Beautiful big birds they are as well.  Plus today a junco arrived and was happy to dig into the sunflower seeds on the ground.  Or, I should say, snow.

This male purple finch was a bit bashful, just kept sticking his head out from behind the feeder.

There is ground showing in many places now however.  Mostly on hillsides.  But even here in the yard.  And, there are at least 3 male purple finches here now.  The first one showed up yesterday.  It has been a bit hard getting a good pic of them though.  Sigh.

And…

Yesterday afternoon the first chipmunk showed up!  Yay!  He isn’t one of my normal chipmunks though.  This fella lives across the street and he only showed up last fall so I didn’t have much time to make friends with him.  Maybe this year.

First chipmunk of the year.  Poor little critter looked kind of cold with that pile of snow behind him.

I will have to think of a name for this one too.  Yes, they do learn their names and will come when I call them.  I hope the others managed to survive the winter as well.  They certainly had enough food.  But…they do have enemies.  The worst one around here is the weasel.  And they come into town too, though I haven’t seen any evidence of them around here.

I forgot on Monday…

The answer to my question.  Can a person be up and down at the same time, physically?  Surprisingly I only received four responses to that question.  Was it really that hard?  There was some good answers, even no was a good answer.  The answer though is yes.  How?  Here is one example.  I am  half way up a ladder going up to the roof of a house.  Someone on the roof looks over and says, what are you doing down there?  And a person on the ground says, what are you doing up there?  There you have it, up and down at the same time.  Okay, groan all you want.  I think those who answered my last question knew it would be like this, which is why they didn’t want to answer this time.  Last time I asked, can a person be here and there at the same time, while being in the same spot? Oh well.

Try this one…

If I was standing in front of you I could prove that I wasn’t there.  Do you believe that?  Yes or no, plus an explanation.  No need to play along with these questions if you don’t want to.  I know what you’re thinking.  But really, it has been a long winter, and I tend to think a lot.  Sigh.

Ideas…

I get ideas sometimes.  Again, that is because our winters can be rather long.  So I think.  I probably shouldn’t think.  Then I wouldn’t get ideas.  I should really do a survey.

Looking at a pine siskin from above.  Lots of shells showing up now, but still some good seeds in there too and the birds are quick to find them.

If I knew how.  Since it would need to be anonymous.  Otherwise people might not want to participate.  And I certainly need participation.  Before I go through with my new idea.  Sigh.  I should stop thinking.  But it can be fun.  Especially when my ideas work out.  And sometimes they do.  Honest.

Speaking of shopping…

I’m always amazed at what can happen to me while shopping.  I needed to get cat litter.  The bucket is on the top shelf.  Naturally.  But, there is one right at the edge.  Perfect.  Wrong.  I tip it over and…the lid is broken open.  In case you don’t know, that means cat litter starts spilling out onto the floor.  And I’m trying to stop it from falling into the cart as I usually want it to do.  Without getting cat litter all over the place.  I manage to succeed without much loss.  Except for throwing my back out.  Supposed to ask for help, I’m told.  They don’t have anyone working in the pet section, not enough employees.  We have high unemployment here.  Stores can’t get people to work.  Starting wage is $15.15 per hour.  Not a fortune, but not bad for a single person.  Then I go to pick up some peanuts.  The bag had been ripped open by someone.  Peanuts all over the floor.  Why me?  Pick them up and put them on the shelf.  I’m on my way to the checkout.  Just going into the checkout, no one ahead of me.  A young lady runs past me and gets ahead of me. It wasn’t my day.  She didn’t even say anything.  Sigh.

It was a fun day though!  It all gave me a good laugh.  Even with a sore back.  Which is even worse now.  Sigh.  I hope you all enjoy your week and I will see you again on Friday, God bless!

Here We Go Again!

Behind The Blogger Book Tag!

This is hard to believe, two in a row!  Talk about exciting!  A big thank you to my friend Stu over at

https://stubaby777.wordpress.com

He has a great blog full of encouraging posts so please feel free to check him out, I am sure he would appreciate your visit!  Now, Stu did say this was for Steve and Muffin, so, after talking it over with Muffin we decided to share in the answering.  And my feet are still in good condition, so it was definitely a wise choice.  For those of you who may not know, Muffin has her own blog on my site, you can find her Muffins Mewsings on my home page.

THE RULES:

  • Thank the person who nominated you
  • Answer all the questions down below
  • Pingback to the creator: Ellyn @ Allonsythornraxx
  • Nominate 5+ bloggers you’d like to know more about, to do this tag

1. Why did you start blogging & why have you kept blogging?

Well, some years ago I started writing a little something I called Steve’s Musings (the name actually changed a couple times) and sending it to people I knew just by email. They suggested I start a blog, so here I am. I kept blogging because it’s fun and I wanted to give people something different, something to make them smile a bit, maybe even laugh.

2. What is your favorite type of blog post to write?

This one is Muffin’s.  Meow, meow, mew, MEOW, meow.  Translation, she likes to write about her hard to train owner.  Muffin is watching after all and I value my feet.

3. What are your top 3 favorite blog posts?

Muffin’s favorite is the one called Muffins Beginnings.  Sad beginning, good ending.  I don’t know if I can actually pick a favorite at all.  I mean, I write them so I’m a bit biased. Sigh.  However, my most recent ones on spring cleaning are not too bad, seem to be popular anyway.  Does that work?

4. What are some of your favorite things to do to relax?

Now we get to something easy, I like easy questions.  In the summer, sitting on the deck spending time with my little chipmunks.  In the winter, sitting in my favorite chair with a good book and Muffin curled up on my lap purring.  I also used to love sitting by a lake on a warm summer day, listening to all the sounds, birds singing, waves gently lapping on the shore, can’t get much better than that.  Muffin adds, sitting in HER favorite chair with her owner and laying in the sunshine.  She meowed her approval of my translation there.

5. What are 3 of your favorite things?

Hmm, seems like a repeat of question 4.  Muffin wants to answer this one.  I’ll skip the meowing this time.  Playing with her owner, catching mice, sharing her owners food.  You can read all about that in her Mewsings.  I refuse to mention her other favorite thing!  AAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!  Okay, okay, she enjoys biting my feet.  Now where did I put those bandages?

I will add 3 for me too.  One, my family.  Two, photography.  Three, my blogging friends! Four, Muffin.  Five, writing.  Oops, only 3, oh well, at least I kept them short.  Sigh.

6. What are your proudest blogging moments?

What happened to the easy questions?  I would say all the great comments I receive from people and the wonderful people I have been able to ‘meet’!  Thanks to everyone for taking of your time to read and comment on my blog and even to sit and chat for a while!

7. What are your hobbies outside of blogging?

Oh good, another easy one.  I won’t bother listing all of them though, it would be a long answer.  Anyway, photography is my newest one.  I enjoy woodworking, though I keep it on a smaller scale now since my little apartment is getting rather full!  Feeding and spending time with my outdoor critters.  I still have a collection of insulators, though I am not really an active collector anymore.  I enjoy collecting old stuff, such as stoneware, graniteware, wood items, old games and more.  I also like collecting minerals and fossils, though on a smaller scale.

8. Describe your personality in 3 words:

This one is Muffin’s again.  Whew.  Meow, meow, meow.  That was easy.  Oh right, translation (Muffin is looking at my feet again), cute, cuddly, lovable.  She really is.

9. What are your top 3 pet peeves?

I get the tough ones.  Sigh.  There’s a lot of questions in this one.  Here goes;

First one: umm, uh, hmm, this is hard, oh, here’s one, no wait, that won’t work.  Must be something.  Aha!  Feet biting.

Second one:  this one is Muffins.  Meow, MEOW!  Translation, owners that don’t understand plain cat language.  You’ll find that in one of her Mewsings too.  Sigh.

Third one: forgetting to put margarine on my potatoes.  Does that count?  I think Muffin talks about that in her post on sharing.  Sigh.  I don’t think I’m doing very well here.  Oh well.  That’s me I guess.

10. What’s something your followers don’t know about you?

Naturally, the hardest one for last.  Sigh.  This is getting personal.  Wait!  This one is supposed to be Muffins!  Whew.  That was close.  Muffin is looking at my feet again. Okay. Fine.  I’m single, never been married, no kids.  It’s just me.  And my cute and cuddly Muffin!  Why do questions have to be so hard all the time?  Sigh.  It’s not quite so bad when you say it fast though.

Now for my tags which is another tough part since I really would like to tag every one of my followers but I will keep it short.  I think.  Sometimes anyway.  But not too often, gives me a headache!  Anyway, here they are;
