For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Wilbert, Raoul and 9 other men had come back into the prison chambers so Wilbert could begin more work on the woman who had died. Then they would bring the women out that Koffman purchased as sex slaves. Wilbert and Raoul had stopped at the room where Sky and Angel were, though they had turned invisible for the moment to see if they could learn some new information.
Then the other men came running back. “Raoul, they’re gone, all of them!” said one man. “What?!” he exclaimed, “That is impossible! What do you know about this Wilbert?” “Why look at me?” he asked, “You know I can’t open those cell doors. That’s why I have to call for you all the time!” “What are we going to do now?” asked Raoul, “Koffman is here to pick up his merchandise, which he has already paid for, and we don’t have them anymore.
Fabien will be furious, but even worse, Vivienne will be even more furious and she will be looking for blood! Yours and mine!” “I’m safe,” said Wilbert, “Vivienne knows she needs me still.” “Ha! Don’t think you can always hide behind that fake scientist coat of yours Wilbert,” said Raoul, “you don’t know Vivienne, I do!
Besides, that little snake, Helene, is here now too, and she is even worse than Vivienne!” Meanwhile, “Steve,” said Sky, as she returned briefly, “Helene is here now too, and it was Raoul that killed that last woman and beat Kristina.” “Don’t let him get away Sky, please,” I said to her. “I won’t, I promise,” she said and disappeared again.
Jazzy has arrived and she, along with her friends, are eating lunch on the patio since it is such a beautiful day. I would like to be out there too, but Koffman is also out there eating with Fabien. Fabien was finally called inside by one of the waitresses, so he came in quickly. The waitress pointed him to Vivienne and Helene who were sitting at an inside table.
“Where is the merchandise for Koffman?” asked Vivienne. “Didn’t Raoul bring them in yet?” he asked in return. “If he did, would I be asking right now?” she growled quietly, “Now, go see where he is, and hurry.” Fabien ran down the hall to his office to try and find out what had happened. “See that woman over there Derek?” asked Koffman. “Uh, which one, there are 4 of them,” he responded.
“The beautiful blond in blue,” he said, “that is Ms. Sienna Walker, the woman who recently inherited the Baldwin empire.” “No kiddin’?” he asked, “That would make her one wealthy gal.” “The wealthiest woman in the world,” said Koffman, “I wonder who those others are?” “That one is Jazzy Anderson,” said Derek, “the wife of the late Toledo. I don’t know any of the others.”
“Well, they must work for Ms. Anderson since they came with her,” said Koffman, “but why are they with Ms. Walker? Jazzy is hardly a law abiding citizen, actually, I thought she was still in prison.” “Maybe that Ms. Walker got her out,” said Derek. “I’ll be right back,” said Koffman. “Greetings Ms. Walker,” began Koffman, “allow me to introduce myself, I’m Kurt Koffman.
It is quite a surprise to see you here all by yourself. I would think that a woman like you would be surrounded by guards.” “A pleasure to meet such a handsome man,” she responded, “as for guards, they surround me all over, including my friends here. Would you care to join us while you wait for Fabien to return? He seems to have some kind of emergency to deal with so he might be gone for a while.”
“I heard you were in prison, Ms. Anderson,” he said as he sat down. “As you can see, that rumor is false,” she answered. “How did you know that Fabien had an emergency to deal with Ms. Walker?” asked Koffman. “I like to know what goes on around me,” she said, “I find it is safer that way. It appears that Fabien lost some merchandise that one of his customers had purchased and he is now trying to figure out what to do about that little problem.”
“Very interesting, Ms. Walker,” said Koffman, “um, do you also know what this merchandise is perhaps?” “Rumor has it that perhaps the merchandise is three very beautiful women,” she replied, “and another woman wanted them, but because Fabien would not sell them to her, she decided to take them anyway.” Koffman smiled.
“I’m quite certain that Fabien could have made much more money selling to this mystery woman,” he said. “That is quite true,” she said, “but sometimes losing is winning in disguise. Though sometimes men don’t quite see it that way.” “Very true,” said Koffman, “and Fabien is going to find out that some buyers don’t like incompetence.”
“Well, it’s not really Fabien’s fault,” she said, “it’s Vivienne, she really doesn’t know how to run a business like this.” “Fabien has not mentioned her,” said Koffman. “That’s because Fabien likes his customers to think he is the manager,” said Sienna, “but really it’s Vivienne that runs things. She and Fabien are undoubtedly discussing how to deal with this problem as we speak.”
“It has been nice talking with you Ms. Walker,” he said, “but I must go now. Good bye.” “Good bye Mr. Koffman,” she said. He nodded at his men and they followed him inside, as did Catalina and Aoife, though they came to our room after turning invisible as they passed a grouping of large plants. They had met Jennifer so she could bring them to our room without being noticed. Back to Koffman.
They went into Fabien’s office. “Where is my merchandise?” asked Koffman. “Um, well, we seem to have lost them,” said Fabien. “Who is she?” asked Koffman. “None of your business!” exclaimed Vivienne. “Obviously you are Vivienne,” he said. “How did you know about her?” asked Fabien. Koffman and his men took out their guns. “I will ask once more,” said Koffman, “where is my merchandise?”
“They escaped,” said a very nervous Fabien. “They escaped that prison of yours?” asked Koffman, “I have been in there, remember? There is no way they could escape. Now, give me my money back.” “I don’t have it,” he said, “Helene picked it up today and she’s gone already.”
“Then get it from your casino,” said Koffman, “with 50% interest, that’s what I always charge on loans, and we will call this a loan. Or you die right now.” Fabien sent Xavier to get the money and he was back quickly and handed it to Koffman. But, winning often means losing…

After breakfast we came back to our room to talk a bit and make some concrete plans for the day. We also brought back some food for Kat and Jennifer who had stayed behind to protect Kristina. They shared their food with Kristina who actually ate more than I thought she would. Then Kristina wanted to talk a bit more, this time telling us a little about the other women in the prison.
She said that two of them, both in the same cell, are being held for ransom. Apparently they have very wealthy parents. “They talked about kidnapping your wife, Steve,” she said, “but they mentioned the name Misty, not Jennifer, and they would kidnap her once you get past the village below us.” “I understand that one Kristina,” I said, “we will take care of that.”
Then she said that there were 3 friends that had been kidnapped while on vacation traveling across Europe, and none of them have any close relatives, so no one will likely miss them. They are all very beautiful women and have been sold to some gangster in Germany and he is going to use them as sex slaves for his most special customers.
She said they are just terrified of what is going to happen to them. The last woman is undergoing the same experimentation that she has had, but it is slowly killing her. Kat said the process won’t work for everyone, there are many things that have to be just right, or it just will not work, and that woman was alive when she was brought in.
Apparently that gangster will be coming today to pick up his new sex slaves. We will make sure that he doesn’t get them. Right then I got a call from Jazzy. “Guess what Steve?” she asked, “I found out who owns that fancy place out there. I didn’t know they had 5 pools and 4 saunas at that place, and a huge exercise room. Have you checked out everything yet?”
“No, we’re kind of busy with other things at the moment,” I answered, “now, about the owner.” “Right, remember Christopher?” she asked, “Well, apparently he has a cousin who comes from a wealthy family. She was given this place as a birthday present when she turned 25, which was last year. She knew about Jennifer and she wanted some ghosts of her own, so she hired Wilbert.
Her name is Helen, but she prefers to be called Helene. She says it sounds more wealthy, whatever that means. She is a totally cold woman, she has no feelings whatsoever, she doesn’t care who she hurts, as long as she gets what she wants.” “She is going to find out that people don’t always get what they want,” I said, “and sometimes they get what they don’t want. We are going to shut this place down, totally.”
“Just remember that there are 3 of you who can be killed rather easily,” said Jazzy, “so don’t take chances please. Oh, I’m not far away, just in the city, so I can be there in an hour if you would like some help.” “Thank you Jazzy,” I said, “we have discovered that they plan to kidnap Misty once we leave the village below us.
So, I had the Wildcats come to the city and they will help escort us out of here when it comes time for us to leave. However, they do have a day pass here if you and some of your friends would like to join us for lunch. It might be a good distraction for the executing of our plan.” “We shall be there just before noon, Steve,” she said.
“Oh, bring Catalina and Aoife with you too,” I said, “I will have them get in touch with you.” “Okay Steve,” she said, “this should be interesting, especially since you are bringing in your best bomb expert.” “Might be a fireworks display,” I told her. “Well, this is certainly getting interesting,” I said to everyone. Then I told them what Jazzy had said to me.
Then Cristy called me right after Jazzy and asked me if I remembered a man named Koffman. “Yep, he controls drugs and sex trafficking over a fairly large area,” I said, “he also has nightclubs in several locations. Still, he’s more of a medium size player in that sort of business.”
“Well, he seems to be expanding,” she said, “he has bought 3 women from that place and is planning to pick them up this afternoon. I take it this means he knows you too? That might not be good.” “Hmm, yes, he knows us very well,” I said, “we will have to stay out of sight while he is here.” “That resort doesn’t sound too exciting,” she added, “I mean, there are not many attractions like most resorts.”
“No, it’s kind of a health type resort for people to come and breathe fresh mountain air, and not much else,” I said, “except for weird shaped pools and saunas. But there is a tanning room, massage room, exercise room, oh, and rooms for trying to make people look 10 years younger by lying to them.” Cristy giggled at that one.
“They do have an escort service too,” I said, “for both men and women, plus 8 very overpriced clothing stores, 7 for women, 1 for men.” She giggled again. “You didn’t mention the casinos,” she said, “they have two, behind closed doors, one for men and one for women. Apparently if your annual income is less than $10,000,000, they won’t let you in.
Unfortunately my employer doesn’t pay me that much, so I would never get in, sniff, sniff.” “Ever tried gambling?” I asked. “Yep, once,” she said, “I saved up $3,000 and went to a casino. I won $5,000. Then I lost everything. Sigh.” “Good thing you don’t have more money to spend,” I told her. Now, we have to speed up our plans a bit.
I contacted Jazzy, but she has never met Koffman, so that is good. But, we will have to eat in our room since Koffman knows me, as well as Kat, Sky and Angel. Then I told Sky we need to get those other girls out of there quickly, before Koffman arrives to pick up his ‘merchandise’. So, off she went with Angel. Sky will bring the women back, two at a time, while Angel stays behind to make sure the others are safe.
Sky was soon back with the first two. These are the girls being held for ransom. The next two are from the 3 friends, and she was soon back with the third friend. All of the women were terrified being rescued in this manner, they just didn’t understand what was happening. However, we soon had them all calmed down.
Sky said the last woman, that had been undergoing treatment like Kristina, was dead. She then went back to rejoin Angel so they could look for Wilbert, and anyone else that might be with him. They ran down the other tunnel that they found before which lead them to a large room full of various types of equipment, drugs to use on the women he was working on, several computers and external drives, and surprisingly, lots of note books full of instructions that Dr. W. had written down.
I had given them orders to destroy absolutely everything they found. No one must be able to use this information again, it is much too dangerous. “Someone is coming Sky,” said Angel, “there are 11 men on the way.” Angel has incredible hearing, which seems to be getting better all the time.
“You stay here Wilbert,” said Raoul, “I’ll bring you that other woman. Then we’ll take those other women out for Koffman.” “I hope you didn’t beat her as bad as the last woman,” said Wilbert, “I don’t want her dead.” “Don’t worry so much,” said Raoul, “you’ll soon have those 2 ransomed women to work on too.” Just then…
