The Investigators, Inc. The Case of the Murdered Parents. Chapter 12. What is Name?

When we got the alarm from Rock we quickly went around to the front of the house. We did not know, however, that someone was watching us under the fence. “Hello,” said Aari cheerfully, “you must be Amber Hudson.” “No, I am not,” said Charly coldly, “and what are you doing in my driveway?” “Oh my,” he said, “this is embarrassing.” Just then we came around the corner of the house.

“You must be Amber Hudson,” I said cheerfully. “No, I already said that to him,” she said rather irritated now, “so please leave now or I will call the police.” “No need to do that,” I said, “we were asked to come here by Amber Hudson because she had some things she wanted to put in storage. Sometimes people like to enjoy their little jokes. But no joke for us as this is costing us money.

Here, take this, along with my apology for disturbing you.” “Oh, no, that is not necessary,” she said, much friendlier now. I had handed her a hundred dollars. “You certainly have a large crew,” she said, “that woman must have had a lot of stuff to move.” “Well, we are actually working at another job today,” I said, “we just stopped by to see what she wanted done. Again, my apologies for disturbing you and we will be on our way.”

“Thank you,” she said, and then we left. “That was close,” said Rock, “good thing we had that story prepared ahead of time.” “Yes, sometimes it is good to be prepared,” I said, “I thought she never came home for lunch.” “Always a first time,” said Aari chuckling. We went back to the hotel. “We will have to try again tonight,” I said, “after visiting Joshua’s big nightclub.”

Apparently it opened at 7pm, so we waited and showed up at 8pm. We were prevented from entering by the person inside. “Not without an invitation,” he said to me. I asked him to check his email, Joshua was supposed to send him an invitation for us that way. He checked and sure enough, the invitation was there, for me and as many people as came with me.

He then allowed us all inside. Clarence was last in and he shot the man with a sleeping dart. Once inside Rock called out nice and loud for people to pay attention. Now it is my turn. “Good evening everyone,” I said, “please put all of your money and jewelry on the tables in front of you. If you do not obey, my friends here will take it from you by force, and you do not want that to happen.

Any of the guards here, please lay down your guns on the tables also, not doing so could end up with you being shot by my friends. If you cooperate, nothing will happen to you.” Some of the people began to put money on the tables, but the security guards brought out their guns to fight. Such a bad choice. My team had their guns out and shot every guard before they had a chance to return fire.

We were only using sleeping darts however. Too many people here to risk a big shoot out. That made everyone move faster with unloading their money and jewelry. The girls gathered it up while the guys went on a rampage, destroying as much as possible, quickly. We then left and were gone before the police arrived. But before we left I called out and told them all to thank Joshua for the extra fun tonight.

“I am a bit surprised that the police were so slow to respond,” I said. “Yes,” agreed Aari, “they were kind of slow, but I do not mind that at all.” That afternoon we took the added precaution to change hotels, just in case. Good thing we did too, the police had 24 officers waiting at our previous hotel for us to return, which we never did.

And they never asked the hotel staff if we were still staying there, they just assumed we did. Then we went back to Charly’s house, she must have gone to bed early. Miles let some of the girls inside and they made sure that Charly would sleep until morning. Around back we again tried to find an entrance, but we could not find even a trace.

Then Storm noticed those eyes watching and he went to investigate. Meowr?”=Who you are? Meow.=Me cat, me watch, you want inside sneaky room, me can help. Then he lay down. Meow.=Me so weak, not can sit up, not eat for 3 days. Meowr?=What is your name? Meow?=What is name? Me not have nothing. You have food, just a little? Storm ran over to Cinnamon.

Meowr.=Come quick, need help. She went with him. “Oh, a beautiful orange kitty,” she said and picked him up, “you are skin and bones, you must be hungry.” She took Kate and cat to the van to get him some food and water. “Do not eat fast, or too much,” she said, “you will get sick.” Meow.=Me can help get inside sneaky room. Me see people do it lots…

Fun On Friday! #2

Hello everyone! Well, another week is almost over which is hard to believe. Summer goes by so fast it seems. However, winter does last longer, about 6 months, while summer is only 3 months, more or less. It was quite a nice day yesterday. Cooler today though.

We have 77 forest fires burning right now and although the area has received quite a bit of rain this month, it has only slowed the fires, not stop them. More new fires keep starting up every day it seems. A lot are in the 10 to 20 thousand hectare size, with many going well above that. Some are; 38,033 hectares (92,982 acres), 39,194 hectares (96,850 acres), 48,555 hectares (119,982 acres), 60,394 hectares (149,237 acres).

These are not the only larger ones, I just picked a few. Our western province of BC is really bad right now with over 350 forest fires. One firefighter, a young woman, died yesterday fighting a fire. That province has put out a plea to other countries to help. We were in a similar position 2 years ago. Warning, photo of a wasp below!

I think our hot summer weather is done for this year. It just came a bit earlier than normal.

The first time Coffee took a peanut from me. He stretched as much as he could.

Does not seem to be much happening outside today either. It is another windy day so insects are staying hidden from view. Windy days like this were never good for walking to the river. Things hide when it is windy. Plus it is hard to hear. And I like to hear when I am walking that path. Just in case a bear is walking around.

Like one time when I was out walking, on a different path and it was a windy day. The pines were swaying in the wind singing their beautiful song. Wind through the pines is beautiful, a unique sound, like instruments playing in an orchestra. But I digress. I turned around because I had that “feeling” again that I was being watched.

It did not take Coffee long to come up onto my knee for his peanuts, same day actually.

Sure enough there was a bear on the path behind me. He was about a hundred feet away though, but walking slowly toward me. Then he stopped and sniffed the air. Perhaps he did not like the wind either, it would affect his hearing and ability to smell any scents, like me.

He had stopped and was still sniffing the air. Finally it decided to walk off the path and into the trees. I kept watching and the bear kept walking, away from me. Perhaps he did smell me. Most likely he saw me and was trying to figure out what I was, friend or foe.

Another pic of the Northern Paper Wasp. Their sting is rather nasty, I discovered that the other day.

People often think that a bear’s eyesight is poor, but that is not the case. They have excellent vision up to about 100 feet, or about 30 meters. Oh well. Just some miscellaneous pics for today. The sun is shining for the moment. Have a fabulous Friday and God bless!
