Winter Daydreams. I think.

Well, here we are.  Another month.  Another winter month.  Another cold winter month.  Another very cold winter month.  And it just doesn’t seem like we are getting any closer to spring.  The only thing to change over the past month is we have more snow.  Lots of snow. Snow means cold.  Very cold.  And it certainly is cold.  Not as bad as it could be I guess.  But it just doesn’t want to go away.  And we still have another 2 months or more to go.  Sigh.  Okay, maybe I talk too much about the cold.  But, hey, it’s kind of like a hobby.  Personally, I would like to be in Hawaii right now.  AAAAhhh, just think of it.  Laying under the palm trees.  Enjoying all that warmth.  Walking along the beach, no one else around.  After all, who wants a beach full of people.  This is my daydream.  I enjoy the quietness of a stroll along the beach, a gentle ocean breeze, the only noise is that from the birds flying overhead, and the gentle lapping of waves on the beach.  Then going for a walk along a nice trail through all that tropical growth, plants, trees, flowers, and more birds singing.  Of course, this might be best done in the early morning and then stopping somewhere for a nice breakfast overlooking that beautiful blue ocean.  Such a nice thought.  Why would anyone want to live anywhere else?  This is the place to be.  Then checking out all that beautiful scenery that fills this group of islands.  Not just along the shore, but inland, with its mountains, hills, valleys, lowlands and tropical everywhere you go.  Okay, maybe not on the mountain tops, but I won’t go up there.  Well, okay, maybe to check out a volcano.  Just so restful.  So enjoyable.  So warm.  A good place to spend a month or two while winter rages on in my own neck of the woods.  Who cares about winter in a place like that?  Can’t even imagine winter in this gorgeous location.  Does it really exist?  Or is winter just a terrible dream?  We can wake up and it’s not really there at all.  Let me open my eyes and…sigh.  It’s still there.  Just as brutal as ever.  Snow, ice, cold, very cold, always cold…sigh.  Oh well.  Maybe one of these days.  Right.  But dreams can be nice sometimes.  Especially in the middle of winter.  Which is where we are at right now.  Okay, maybe not where you live.  But here.  But the birds are still around.  And the deer.  Amazing their skinny legs don’t freeze solid in this weather.  They just walk around like there is no snow or cold, munching away on whatever they can find.  Usually just twigs this time of year.  I hang out fat for the birds.  It is well liked by many of our winter friends.  Chickadees, nuthatches, downy and hairy woodpeckers, grey jays.  They all enjoy it, gives them some good winter warmth, and those poor little critters need all the help they can get. Had a wolf around the other night.  He is huge.  His feet are also huge.  Poor Muffin.  She likes dogs, but wolves are a different thing altogether.  She gets terrified when a wolf comes around.  Which doesn’t happen often.  Probably a good thing.  He’s likely hungry this time of year, and he might not be too picky about what he has for supper.  Always makes me a bit cautious coming around the corner to my deck at night.  What if he is on the deck?  He might not like being cornered like that.  Might get him excited.  In the wrong sort of way kind of excitement.  Sigh.  Would like to get a picture of that one though.  But from a safer location.  Oh well.  Guess I should stop once again.  Nice to just babble about nothing in particular once in a while.  Until next time, enjoy your week, think warm and God bless!

Steve.  And Muffin.  And critters.
