For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Sunday’s sunny skies…suddenly disappear beneath the gray clouds. Many more birds are arriving from the south but unfortunately are staying just out of range for any good photos. But I keep trying. Like in all things, it’s necessary to keep trying even if not successful at first. Don’t give up because of minor, or what might even seem to be a major, setback. Keep pushing ahead until the goal is reached. Many people give up too soon, just another little try might be all that is needed for that success.
There really is a lot of birds around this afternoon. I keep stopping my writing to go out and get some pictures only to come back in with nothing. Just one of those days. Perhaps tomorrow that perfect picture will be right there in front of me. That’s what happens sometimes. Never give up, it could be the next one. We never know unless we try. And I will keep trying even if there are some difficulties in the way. That works with anything.
Here is a little something to think about: The Bank Account.
Imagine that you had won the prize in a contest. Each morning your bank would deposit $86,400 into your private account, with rules that read:
1.Everything that you did not spend during each day would be withdrawn from your account.
2. You may not simply transfer money into some other account.
3. You may only spend It.
4. Each morning, when you wake, the bank opens your account with another $86,400 for that day.
5. The bank can end the game, without warning, at any time. It can say, “Game Over!” and close the account and you will not receive a new one.
What would you personally do?
You would buy anything and everything you wanted, right? Not only for yourself, but for all the people you love and care for. Even for people you don’t know, because you couldn’t possibly spend it all on yourself, right?
You would try to spend every penny, and use it all, because you knew it would be replenished in the morning, right?
This “game” is actually real, to each of us. Each of us is already a winner of this prize. We just can’t seem to see it.
The prize is TIME.
Each morning, upon waking, we receive 86,400 seconds as a gift of Life.
And when we go to sleep at night, any remaining time is not credited to us.
What we have not used up that day is forever lost.
Yesterday is gone forever.
Each morning the account is refilled, but the bank can dissolve our account at any time without warning.
So, what will we do with our seconds?
Those 86,400 seconds are worth so much more than $86,400. Think about it, and remember to enjoy every second of your life, because time races by so much quicker than you think.
Start spending. Wisely.
And don’t complain about growing old! Some people don’t get the privilege.
Well everyone, thank you so much for joining me again today! Please stop in tomorrow and we can enjoy a cup of coffee together. Until then, enjoy the remainder of your day and God bless!
Steve and Muffin.

Thanks so much for reading and your kind comment Renee! Well, I would need to get a whole new camera then too, this one is just a fixed lens camera. But I have been thinking about it. Enjoy your evening!

You are welcome. I know what you mean. I have somehow managed to crack the outer casing on my Canon’s automatic lens. So, it’s unusable at the moment.

I’m surprised mine is still working, I have put it through some tough times, including -30F temps.

I enjoyed the Bank account analogy. So true and a perfect way to give the message some importancy and urgency. Thank you for writing and for following my recent Lent musings. It is much appreciated.

I was already calculating how and what I’ll get when I find that amount of sum in my account each day. But you just have to blow it away by adding the topic about time. It’s a heartwarming message, Steve. Thanks. Each time I read the stuff you post I feel that it isn’t a wasted time.

Thank you for sharing 😊 yes you should name that cute female 😊👍

Good morning Huguette, thanks for taking the time to read! There is actually 4 females around now and 2 males. The males are named, only because they were here last year, I am trying to figure out the characteristics of each female so I can tell them apart, then I can give them names as well. Only one of them will sit on my knee so far. Hope you have a great day!😃🌞

Thanks Huguette, yes, the squirrel population is increasing, but my chipmunks are decreasing! I like those little chipmunks, they are always friendlier than the squirrels.😃🐿

Hope the chipmunks will find their way back then 😊😊 I didn’t know they are friendlier 😊

Yes, once chipmunks accept me, which takes a few days, up to a week, they get much friendlier and actually seem happy to see me when I come out. Squirrels take longer to accept me and will become friendly too but they do remain wary. Except a few, like Chipper last year, she was very nice, I miss that one. Squirrels hate the chipmunks and chase them away unfortunately, but a couple are brave enough to keep coming. I think one may have died over winter, he was my favorite but also the oldest of the group.😃🐿

Oh so the squirrels are the naughty ones who chase them! So you can’t have both
Brave chipmunks indeed!
Chipper 😊 this is a cute name
Too bad when they die! They certainly become family 👍😊

So true, around here with such a busy street they usually are run over by cars. Not sure what happened to Chipper, she just stopped coming.😕

Such a great post Steven!
What a gift of those 86,400 seconds God gives us! Yes, sadly we waste a lot of them without thought. And we spend a lot of them on things that truly have no value.
I’m guilty of these things and I do cherish each second because I kmow God could call me home in the next second!

That’s right Stu, it’s quite an amazing thought and I have certainly wasted a lot of those seconds over the years, I try not to do that now, though I must admit it still happens sometimes.🤔😕
