Happy Friendship Day! Almost.

Hello everyone on this holiday Monday morning!  At least for us it’s a holiday.  Which is always nice to have.  First I will apologize to everyone for not answering comments yesterday and for not getting this post out yesterday as well.  After my first post on pictures our internet went down.  And it’s been off until now.  A long time.  Especially when there are things I had planned to do.  Sigh.  I hope it stays on now.  There has been a lot of problems with our internet this summer.  It’s cloudy this morning.  According to the forecast it is supposed to be sunny today.  I hope so.

Yesterday was Friendship Day and celebrated as such in many countries all around the world.  I like the idea of having a day to celebrate friendship.  After all, friendship is one of the most important things in our lives.  Many people actually don’t think friendship is important.  They would rather be loners.  Those people miss out on so much joy and love by being that way.  Some people have been betrayed by friends and so don’t trust anyone anymore.  They don’t mind having casual friends, but not close friends.  They hope to protect themselves by doing things this way.  That’s sad really.  Just because we get betrayed by someone doesn’t mean we can’t trust anybody.IMG_4996

But if we want to have good close friends, those we can truly trust, those who will be there for us when we need help, those who will love us, those that we can truly confide in, then guess what?  We need to be that kind of friend ourselves.  Why would a friend who is trustworthy want to be close to us if they can’t trust us?  Why would a friend love us if we don’t love them?  Hey, it works both ways.  If we want these kinds of friends, then we need to be that kind of friend to others.IMG_5744

Friends are not just people to hang out with if we have nothing better to do.  They should be a real part of our lives, not just a decoration to use once in a while.  Friends are precious.  Like a precious mineral.  Why is it called that?  Because it has great value.  Friends are even more precious than any mineral.  They have far greater value than any mineral.  Greater than gold, diamonds, rubies or any other mineral you want to mention.  I collect minerals.  I don’t have gold or diamonds.  But I have many of the other precious minerals.  They are beautiful to look at.  They make a wonderful collection.IMG_5825

But friends are far, far greater.  Far more precious than any of these minerals.  But how do we treat our friends?  Sad to say that many people would treat precious minerals better than their friends.  To them, these minerals are a treasure.  But in reality our friends are a much greater treasure.  When we have such friends we should hold onto them, treat them as precious, treat them as a treasure that you want to keep.IMG_3298

Well, I was hoping to have this out yesterday on Friendship Day, but due to the internet problems that just was not possible.  But I hope you will enjoy it today anyway.  After all, friendship is every day of the year.  In true friendship, even if you can’t be together, you still think about each other.  I truly appreciate all of you, my friends here.  I hope you all have a great day and God bless!

Steve and Muffin.

  2. Steve, you truly are a dear sweet friend—caring and kind. More precious than any dinosaur egg! 🦖🦕🐣

Wise words here indeed—it is difficult to trust after feeling betrayed, hurt—and that’s ok. It’s also good to have boundaries too. And sometimes it’s good to let people go—for their own good.

It’s wonderful when friends visit because they want to—even if is been awhile it’s like no time has passed—no hard feelings or pressure. Just kind warm-hearted friendly good nature.

Wonderful quotes here. Very inspiring. 💙🤗💟

  4. Happy extended Friendship Day, Steve! I have yet to reply to your previous replies. I am very behind on blogging right now. Like very very behind. 😓

I’ve been meaning to ask you something important: Do you happen to know anything about Ilona’s disappearance from easydiet.blog? She hasn’t been blogging for over a week and I cannot search her site. I think she deleted it. I was hoping to reach out to her via email and I remember that you two used to collaborate on blog posts.

    • Hi Hilary! I know what you mean about being behind on blogging, so am I, and I’m trying to get things back to normal again for reading blogs. As for Ilona, she has quit blogging due to hassles from people and just too much stress with her blog, she said it was no longer enjoyable so she deleted her blog. She also deleted her instagram and changed her email so no one can get in touch with her. I haven’t heard anything since she did that so that’s all I can tell you. She just decided to cut things off completely. I know she did want to concentrate on her new career as an architect too so maybe that played a part in it as well. Lots of people miss her and have been asking around. But that’s all I know anyway. Hope you have a great day!

      • Thank you for getting back to me about Ilona. I was really worried about her and thought she quit due to rebound depression or something. I’m really sorry to hear (well, technically read) that she had struggles and stress with her blog. Blogging is meant to be enjoyable and fun and if it’s not, then we shouldn’t be blogging. So in that sense, she did the right thing taking a break. I wish the blog was still there for us to read.

She was like a blog sister to me because we shared so much in common. I think about her everyday. So you don’t have her email either? Have you tried contacting her via her previous email? If she has a personal email try sending her a message just to see if the email still works…. who knows, maybe one day she will see it! *wishful thinking*

Thank you for doing everything you could do, Steve! I really appreciate that you’ve been asking around and searching for answers. I’ve now lost 2 role-model bloggers who played a huge part in my blogging journey. 🙏🏻🌻

      • Yes, I’m sure depression was not a problem, she seemed to be doing well, it was just the stress due to blogging and it was taking so much of her time. I tried to convince her to keep the blog up and available to people to read since there was a lot of helpful info on there, but she thought if she did then she might be tempted to start up again, which she didn’t want to do. Who knows, maybe she will be back one day. No, I don’t have her new email or any other way to contact her. Her old personal email no longer works, she deleted that also, I tried again this morning. She helped a lot of people for sure, too bad she left, but if blogging isn’t enjoyable anymore then why keep on with it? That’s when it becomes stressful and that’s no good. Sorry I couldn’t help more with that but Ilona wanted to make a complete break from the blogging community. Hope you have a great day Hilary!🙂😺🌞🌳

      • Thank you for sharing this info with me, Steve. 🙏🏻🌻 I think it’s closure I’m looking for – I wish Ilona would have posted a goodbye post because I often think the worst case scenario when people suddenly disappear. If she ever feels the need to reach out to us down the road, at least she knows where to find us. Contact forms are a godsend. Taking a hiatus is a good way to recharge and regain focus, but quitting cold turkey is bold.

From personal experience, quitting Facebook two years ago did not make me happier. I haven’t returned to Facebook because I replaced it with WordPress, which is a lot better for my mental health. There’s community here and it has helped me tremendously. I would have contacted you privately via contact form but I figured posting here would be better so other bloggers who are wondering the same thing can see it too. Thank you for bringing me some closure, Steve. I wish both you and Ilona a great day! Maybe we can contact her telepathically with our prayers and positive thinking. 🙏🏻🌹🌹🌹

      • Sorry I couldn’t have been more help but since I can’t contact her either then that’s all the info I have to share. Hopefully she will be back or contact someone eventually. Thanks Hilary!🙂🌞🌳

      • You were very helpful and I appreciate your help. Thank you for passing your info along to me. 😇🌺

I really hope she comes back, and I do believe that we are meant to encounter certain people for a reason and not all of them are meant to stay for long periods of time. Our time was short but I learned lots. She’s the reason I get readers now, where before I used to get little to no engagement on my blog.

      • Yes, that’s the same with my blog. Ilona helped me with things so I understood better what to do and that sure changed things for me too. Last year I didn’t have many people show up at all and this year things are flying! I’m certainly thankful to her for that and very glad I was able to tell her that while she was still here. Glad to know I was able to help a bit and thanks for stopping by today, I always appreciate it Hilary!🙂😺🌳

You are right, we need to care first, we need to be friends in order to have friends…and life without friends is really unbearable
We all face betrayal and hurt but not all people are the same 😊

      • Some friends end up disappointing us. I would often think that it was my fault and that I wasn’t being a good enough friend, until I added it up and realized that I was giving giving giving and they were taking taking taking. As tempted as I am to do the same back to them and treat them the same way they treat me, I’m biting my tongue. I refuse to sink down to their level because often times when we blame ourselves, it’s usually not our fault for losing friends due to circumstances. Often, it has to do more with them than it has to do with us. Hold onto the friends who treat you right and be kind to everyone. Kindness is free.

I’m sorry this is a bit off topic but Huguette’s reply made me think of how rare friendship really is. We are extremely lucky when we find friends who not only take but also give. Friendship is a two-way road rather than a one-way. Cheers 🥂🌷🌷

      • That is so true, always two way for sure for true friendship. And real friendship does seem to be a rare thing indeed when it ought to be common. But it is fantastic when we are able to find a good friend! Enjoy!😁😸

  7. maybe i am the latecomer. But i think that better late than never. Happy super extended friendship Day steve :))
I have just got to know you through hastag friendship in wordpress and thank God you wrote quite a lot about this subject, and so i decided to have a look at your site.
You’re right. We all humans and we all want to receive more than to give. When it comes to friendship it’s not the exception. We want our friends treat us better but we didn’t ever think about how we treat them in the past and how should we in the future. We kept blaming and playing victim everytime we were betrayed or deceived by our loved ones. But until the day when you truly root for the reason why it happened in your relationship, will you know the exact hole happened.
So when it comes to relationship. remember: if you want these kinds of friends show up in your life, you need to be that kind of friend to other too
