Rock Dove (feral pigeon)

Good morning and Happy Monday everyone!  Yes indeed, it’s that time of the week again.  A time to get up and get moving into another marvelous Monday.  So, grab a cup of coffee, take a nice long sip and put a smile on your face.  That’s why we’re here this morning, “for a smile as wide as a country sunrise”!  So come on, give it a try everyone, I know you can do it!  Do some nice big stretches to get rid of that morning stiffness.  You don’t need a lot of strenuous exercising, although there is nothing wrong with that if you can do it.  But just some nice long and easy stretches will do the trick and get you moving this morning.  It was so nice watching Baxter and Betty.  It’s that time of year and the male blue jays are looking for mates.  So Baxter comes down and checks through all the peanuts to find the biggest one he can.  Then up he goes, breaks it open and hops over to Betty and feeds it to her.  If she accepts the food, then she is accepting him also as her mate.  She gladly accepted the peanuts again this year.

And now, it’s time for more bird pics to begin our week…

Here’s Baxter out looking for peanuts, though this was in the fall, not now.IMG_6669

And here is Big Blue, also waiting for me to toss out some peanuts as I sit outside in the fall.  They get quite tame after a while and Baxter would actually land on my knee to get a peanut.IMG_2585

And here is my favorite sparrow, the fox sparrow.  This is also our largest sparrow but they go further north for their nesting.IMG_2600

Here you can see him a bit better from the front, they have a large dark spot of their chest.  Called a fox sparrow because of it’s bright rusty colored tail.  Usually when these birds come back it means winter is definitely over.  I hope you all have a great day and God bless!

    • Yep, the blue jays do that, gray jays too, only they don’t use a peanut, usually a piece of meat if they can get it. Only -24 here right now.😬😺🌞⛄☕

  2. That’s a great stretch to begin with 😁😁 this is fine 😉😄😄😄👻, Baxter is so beautiful and the fax sparrow also looks amazing with so much information about him, if it comes then definitely winter is gone. So your summer has started? How was your Sunday, did you practice your workouts, and long walks, was it warm?✨😉 have a beautiful warm Monday Steve ✨💐

    • Good morning Simon! Yesterday was cold again, -24 and today it’s -23.😬🥶 It’s going to be cold now for another 2 weeks.😳😳 No, the fox sparrow hasn’t arrived yet, still too much snow. He won’t be back until April sometime. Because it was so warm on the weekend and then it all froze so much, it’s nothing but ice out there now,😲 very dangerous walking right now. I still did it though, but I walked a bit more slowly, I didn’t want to slip and fall.😬 But I still wanted to walk. I’m slipping a bit on my workout though,🙄 need to get back to doing that more regularly again.🤔 Sigh. Have a great evening Simon!😃😺🌙

      • What 😳 Cold again 🥶 Oh sad to hear that Steve!✨ We need to wait till April for the proper summer 😕 That’s a bit long, it’s okay, let it snow. But you take care with less walks in this snow, don’t do anything too much and get hurt, we know you are safe now, but just a reminder 😉 Keep doing those workouts and get back in shape Steve 💪🦵🤸
