Nature’s Art #39.

Hello once again everyone and welcome back!  I am always so thankful to have all of you join me here each day at Steve’s Country for all of my different posts!  I hope this finds you well and enjoying your Saturday.  It is a cold, icy day here, but the sun is shining brightly which makes it a beautiful day.  The birds are extra busy at the feeders right now since everything is still covered with that thick layer of ice we received Thursday night.  It might be a couple more days yet before it really starts to melt.  So the birds have a tough time finding their natural food, so they come here, which is fine with me.  Muffin likes the increase in activity too.  And the little juncos don’t mind coming on the deck for their food, so that’s even more exciting for Muffin.  Right now she is enjoying her patch of sunshine.  Nothing like warm sun on a cool day.  Amazingly the sun is beginning to melt that ice on the deck a little bit, and a few places on the ground as well, like right next to the house and garage.

And now for our art in nature and a return to our mushrooms…

Frost's Amanita 3

Here we have the “Frost’s Amanita” mushroom as it is first beginning to grow.  As you can see it is a nice bright yellow mushroom that normally has some rough bumps on it.Frost's Amanita 6

Here it is again once it is fully open.  It’s a fairly common mushroom here and in much of eastern Canada and northeastern US.Frost's Amanita 4

And here it is again from underneath.  These mushrooms can get up to 3 inches (8cm) across.  However, a word of caution, they look beautiful, but do not eat!  Seems there are a few in this family of mushrooms that are like that.  Look at them, take a pic if you want, but that’s all.  Again, don’t eat them.

Well, that is all for our nature’s art for today, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, stay safe, and God bless!

    • Glad you liked this mushroom Simon! All three are the same. This family of mushrooms are generally not safe to eat, haven’t found any that are yet anyway. That’s why they look so nice!😃😺🌞🍄🍄☠
