For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning everyone! How are you doing on this fine Friday? It is a chilly morning once again, only 39F (about 4C). But it’s supposed to warm up a bit more today than it did yesterday. Out here on the deck this morning with my cup of coffee it looks like it should be so much warmer than it is. The sun is shining brilliantly, the sky is such a beautiful blue and the birds are singing so cheerfully. The birds actually sound louder this morning than normal, maybe it’s just the cooler temps. There is a red-eyed vireo sitting somewhere in a large birch tree singing his song. Hard to see these little birds sometimes now that the leaves are out fully. Oh, there he is, way up near the top, much too far away to get a picture of a small bird like that.
Pocket and Skamper have arrived for their morning peanuts and so has Baxter I see, and naturally I didn’t bring any out with me. Oh well, I need some more coffee anyway. There, that’s better, everyone is now happy. Sir George, Lady Pearl and 3 other herring gulls were here earlier for their breakfast. They showed up at precisely 5:05. There was a fair bit of “talking” between them as they all got here and took up their positions around the area, waiting for me to come out with some food. When Lady Pearl came down for her food a couple of the crows decided they would come on the feeder too which caused her to back away. That’s when Sir George came swooping down from the house top and he actually bumped that one crow right off the feeder. Those crows don’t learn easily. Now it’s time for some pics to enjoy…

In the above pic is an oddity, the “wild sarsaparilla”. There are a lot of these flowers along the path to the river.

And in this pic is one of my pink petunias before all that rain and hail hit earlier in the week. It will be awhile before my petunias are blooming again. The very top featured image is the “starflower”. Happy Friday everyone and God bless!
Steve and Muffin.

These crows are a mess, got no patience, no discipline. I’m starting to hate this bird. π§ You are a morning person Steve, it’s really good you wake up so early and do so much, I wake up at 6 these days and feel to do nothing until I have my first teaπ Enjoy this beautiful Friday and prepared for an awesome Weekend β¨π€π

have you ever filmed Sir George bumping into one of the crows?

No, never have, I should give it a try once it warms up just a bit, or I’ll be shaking too much!

It would be nice, so this morning I was all set and only one gull showed up! Strangely it was Lady Pearl. But the crows left her alone anyway. Sir George showed up later. First time they have done that.

they must have known something was up…

I’m sure they do. I can sit out there for an hour without my camera and there is a lot of bird activity, but bring my camera out and there’s hardly anything happening. That happens a lot.

Today I received a letter written from my aunt with her drawings of a vireo on the letter stationary and the card.S he sketches bird pictures with color pencil. Then I get this email blog today you sent speaking of the same bird type. It’s my turn to write her back. She uses paper stationary, and I will respond to her with a poem or story I wrote. All the siblings in dad’s family either could can write, play music, artwork, or do crafts of sewing or knitting.
I am grateful to do a wee much of each. Staying humble is the key.

Hey, that sound wonderful! That’s interesting that the vireo came up on the same day. That’s fantastic that there is so much talent in your family like that, it’s always so nice to see. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!ππΊπββ
