For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning on this sunny and chilly Monday! Happy Monday Everyone!! When I went outside to put out the feeders this morning it was cool, very cool. So I had my coffee inside this morning and just watched out the window. Well, for a while I stood out there to watch the fun with the Jasper and the chipmunks, plus Jasper and the blue jays. Jasper is getting to be a rather busy little squirrel. He certainly won’t have to worry about being overweight. No wonder he needs so many peanuts though, all that running around and chasing everything in sight must make him hungry. There was 3 chipmunks out here eating peaceful together, well, almost peacefully. I spread the food around a bit this morning to try and stop the “discussions” from happening. Works good. Jasper doesn’t agree. Means more running for him chasing all these chipmunks. While he chases one, the others are still grabbing peanuts and running for cover.
So he spends a lot of time running back and forth on the deck but the chipmunks are still getting all the peanuts. Working good. Jasper still got his too though, just not so many. He doesn’t need so many, he’ll keep getting them all winter. The chipmunks need their winter food. So this new system is good. Plus the blue jays get some too. It was hard getting peanuts to the blue jays since they won’t go in the peanut box. But if I leave the peanuts on the deck, the crows get them. But it means I have to stand there and watch the whole time so the crows won’t come down. This is okay for the morning, but the blue jays come at other times too, so there is still a problem. I don’t want to lose them. These crows have become a major problem now. Seems I have lost Sir Charles now and Sir Henry. The gulls spend a lot of time on the lake now before heading to their winter vacation spots. Even Lady Pearl and mate have not been here this morning. Sad time of year when I start losing my gulls.
Here are some more pictures from down at the river which I hope you will enjoy today. These pics were taken about 10 days ago. I hope you all have a very marvelous Monday and God bless!

I haven’t fixed the feeder yet, still trying to figure that out. I had an idea, but it won’t work, I won’t be able to see it.π What’s the point in that?π Sigh. Yep, into fall temps now, the next two days will be okay, but then it drops and stays there.π I will have to start wearing a jacket then. Sigh. It was cool enough this morning for a jacket,π¬ but it has warmed up now, it’s 24.π Time for my walk, I hope, feeling kind of weak today though so might not get too far. Have a good night Simon!ππΈππ΄

I was just watching a youtube video about a trip to the Rocky mountains in Alberta in Canada … It receives a lot of rain and snow …
There is a city called Calgary in Alberta and was named so as a Christian name …

Yes, Calgary is one of our bigger cities, has about 1.5 million people. Much of Alberta is very dry, but the mountain areas do get a lot of rain and snow. It’s much warmer out there than it is over here too.

I read that weather swings in some internal parts or prairies of Canada can be extreme due to cold or warm currents of winds…
I also read that in Newfoundland and Labrador, they see foggy weather and icebergs in the sea …

Yes, that is all very true, those weather swings are especially noticeable in Alberta, western Saskatchewan and even up in the Yukon territory.

You’re getting bad fires down there again too I see. Our western province of BC is having heat and bad fires too.

Yes…way too many fires and this is only the start of fire season. But in all honesty, in California, all year has become fire season.

Our fire season is at the end now, usually, though it can go into September some years. We are in an extreme fire zone right now because it’s so amazingly dry. Wouldn’t take much to get a fire going.

Yes around me the fall color is coming in which means the plants go from green to brown. Brown and dry and overgrown.

Does this mean summer is over?

Just about, we stay at about 24 during the day until Thursday, then it cools off and stays that way. At least it was a little longer than last year. Birds are heading south, garden flowers are done, not even many wildflowers left. Summers are so very short. We have actually had our first snowfall in September some years!π³

Wow, a lot warmer than it was here, send it this way! Tomorrow is our last warm day. Yes, our squirrels stay all winter too, only the chipmunks that hide away for the winter. Smart little critters.ππΉπ
