For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning to everyone on this rather frosty morning! It is -2C (28F) this morning with a bit of sunshine and a cold wind. But the birds are very active this morning, especially the blue jays which I had a hard time counting today, but I would say there was 14 of them. Plus the 3 dozen or so evening grosbeaks and the juncos, chickadees, sparrows and pine siskins. And that beautiful Fox is still here. There is at least one, but there could be more. No, I’m not talking about a four legged fox with a big bushy tail, this is a fox sparrow, which is our largest sparrow with coloring similar to a fox. I didn’t get to see any this spring which is the usual time to see them as they head north. They breed further north and only pass through during spring and fall migration. I like those fox sparrows. But it’s hard to get a good picture of them, they are a very shy bird. And, Skamper showed up this morning! He was actually here yesterday afternoon as well. I had gone out to feed the birds and I felt this tugging at my jeans. I look down and there’s Skamper stretched as high as he could stand looking at me. So I sat down with him for a bit while he filled himself with peanuts. He has made several trips this morning already. That is so amazing to see chipmunks this time of year, and on such a frosty morning too. Plus Skamper should have plenty of food for the winter already. But it was so nice to see him again anyway.
And Jasper was here for awhile too, but he and Skamper never met. But the blue jays were here with Jasper which he didn’t like and finally Jasper had enough and the chase was on! The blue jays would just jump up and back down behind Jasper as he tried to chase them. Or they would taunt him by coming close, snapping their beaks and then flying out of the way. Jasper was getting a bit “upset” by all of this and ran after Big Blue, the biggest blue jay, even running on his hind feet trying to reach higher in the air! That is something you just don’t see every day! Another time he chased one who just kept hopping away in front of Jasper and Jasper kept jumping after the blue jay, never even getting close. I called Jasper over and gave him a nice big peanut. He sat for a minute holding the peanut, then looked at me and left. I think he was trying to say, “we just have to do something about those blue jays.” It gave me some good laughs this morning.
Our featured image today shows some daisies, pinks and a Shirley poppy near the front of the pic. Then the pic above is a white clover with a couple tiny insects on it. Muffin and I hope you all have a most wonderful day and God bless!

Hi Wael, red dragonflies are so nice. We have some in summer, they are a smaller variety but a nice bright red. I didn’t see as many this year as I did last year though. Have a great day!

I see that you are getting the hang of block editor. I have not gotten the hang of it yet. It sounds quite eventful on your balcony! A good reason to wake up early in the morning.

The block editor still takes longer than the classic for me but I’m getting more used to it now. It does take time though.
Yep, it can get busy at times, especially first thing in the morning!😁
Is it still busy for you these days?🤔 Make sure you get enough sleep, it always helps.😀😺☕☕

Clinical was cancelled so I’m not in school right now. I’m stuck in limbo waiting to hear updates. They told me not to go in anymore due to a covid watch alert. So now I’m wasting time and not getting the hours I need. 🙇♀️ It might sound relaxing to some ppl but it’s stressing me out. As for sleep, I’m ALWAYS tired and can barely stay awake these days.😴

I can understand that. Time off is nice if it’s actual time off, but this is different which is not good.
Do you have to get tested regularly for Covid?

I haven’t gotten tested for COVID-19. All I do is fill out these questionnaires prior to going to campus or the hospital. It feels weird having time off school when I’m supposed to be in school. It definitely doesn’t feel like a holiday. 😕

Will they reschedule your time missed or do you miss it altogether?🤔 Seems like it would have to be rescheduled. Complicated times right now.😯

I will probably end up missing it. I need 184 more hours (minimum). Next week I might be giving out flu shots for volunteer hours but I have yet to get more information about it. Seems silly considering that one clinical shift equates to 12 hours which is the bulk of the workload. I’m just hoping that they don’t place me on a new unit with a new preceptor. It is way too late in the game to get a feel for he land yet again. 🙄

Oh my, that doesn’t sound good at all, I sure hope it works out for you, I know you have put in a lot of hard work and time for this. I wish I could get a flu shot, but it looks like I will have to wait until mid November before there will be an opening. Maybe I should hibernate this winter.🤔

Flu shots are available at shoppers after Oct 19. For high risk ppl they are available now. I’ll be getting a flu shot on Monday. That stinks that you have to wait until November! Yes… hibernation may be the way to go this year. I’m sure Muffin won’t mind.

Shoppers isn’t doing the flu shot here, only 2 of our 5 pharmacies and our local health unit which is why the long wait. Sigh.
Only problem with hibernation is I would have to buy a lot of food. I am going to make some changes to my shopping this winter however so I don’t have to go out as much. Yes, Muffin likes it when I stay home.
