Good morning to everyone! I hope you all are doing well today. It is a beautiful morning with that winter frostiness in the air. And even though the deck was covered in that frost I actually didn’t slip and slide all over the place like I usually do. Not bad. Jasper is here right now once again attempting to chase the blue jays. He chased them from the peanuts outside the door. He chased them around the deck. I think the blue jays were just having fun with Jasper, making him run in circles! Then the jays went up to the feeder which seemed to really get Jasper upset so he went running up there and chased them off. The blue jays just went and sat in the apple tree. When Jasper left they came back to the feeder and started picking up sunflower seeds once more. Jasper saw this and he went a little crazy. First he ran around the deck a bit scaring the juncos away, then off he went back up to the feeder and chased the blue jays off once again. The blue jays just went back to the apple tree.
Jasper went crazy again and ran around in circles on the feeder then took a flying leap into the apple tree, a distance of about 6 feet (almost 2 meters). The blue jays flew over to another tree and so did Jasper, a distance of about 8 feet (about 2 1/2 meters). And the chase continued with the blue jays going to different trees and branches. I’m sure they were laughing the whole time. Poor Jasper just doesn’t understand he can’t win against the blue jays. They were just leading him away while the other blue jays took all the peanuts. Yesterday Theodore was on the feeder eating and Jasper came running up there to chase him away. Theodore just looked at Jasper. Jasper stopped and looked at this giant bird. He sat down staring. Theodore bent way down to look at Jasper. Jasper took off running to a safe distance, then he sat down and chattered at Theodore. That’s telling him Jasper. Guess he didn’t realize how big Theodore was until he got up close. Poor Jasper, he just can’t win sometimes. I give him a peanut. “Having a rough day Jasper?” “Chip”, he says and runs off with his peanut. Guess he didn’t want to talk about it right then. Perhaps later.
The featured image is Jasper yesterday morning as he took a brief break from running around in the snow. Then in the pic above we have a pair of bright and cheery hollyhock flowers. I hope (😸me too, me too!) you all have a most wonderful day and God bless!
