Cold Water, A Poem.

Cold Water

Water flowing past the rock,

Mist is rising ’round the flock

Of little ducks swimming there,

With winter’s cold in the air.

Here along the river shore,

The cold I feel even more.

Yet here they swim, morn to night,

In such cold, ’tis quite a sight.

While I sit the sun does shine

Warming this cold face of mine.

In such cold ’tis nice to see,

Water that is still ice free!

    • Thanks so much for your kind words! This part of the river never freezes, no matter how cold it gets. Sometimes a bit of ice shows up along the shore when the temp gets down to the -30 to -40 range. The current is just too strong. Same on the lake, parts of it always say ice free due to the current. It is kind of strange looking in such a cold part of the country though.

    • Lots of frozen rivers up this way, though in this upper section of the river it never freezes no matter how cold it gets. But it might freeze a bit more than usual since the water is very low this year so there is less current. Rivers are amazing!
