For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning to everyone on this fine Saturday! Help yourself to some coffee and relax with us for a bit. Each day keeps getting nicer for us, this morning the temp was 0F (-18C), and according to the forecast it should make it to a high of 25F (-4C). Have to wait and see about that one, they were a bit off on their temperature forecast yesterday and it ended up being colder than they said, by a few degrees. The sun was shining yesterday, the forecast was good, so I decided to go for a walk. It was a nice walk for sure, but a bit colder than I was expecting. I’m certainly glad I dressed warmly anyway.
Once down at the river with the wind blowing right up the river, it was definitely a bit on the cool side. But I sat on the bench and enjoyed the view for awhile anyway. I will write more about the walk at a later time, there was some little changes from the last time I walked that path. The chickadees and redpolls are busy at the feeders this morning. The hairy and downy woodpeckers have been here, as have the blue jays. Still no sign of the evening grosbeaks though, guess they found another place to eat that they like better. Perhaps the shrike doesn’t come around to their new restaurant.
Not many redpolls around though, only 8, and before there was over 30 of them. But they generally follow the grosbeaks around, makes it easier for them to get food since there is always bits and pieces of seeds left behind which they eat. They have a terrible time trying to open sunflower seeds themselves with those tiny beaks of theirs. It’s nice to see that the birds have legs and feet once again now that it’s milder. I wonder how Theodore did during that cold weather, the last time I saw him was in January. Hopefully he’s okay and comes back soon. Have a great day everyone and God bless!

That was Friday I did that, which is why yesterday I let my walk go without me. I twisted my ankle and hurt my lower back. So I figured I better give it a break until Monday. Actually supposed to rain Monday afternoon with a temp of 40F.

That’s better. What do you mean no reason, it’s a scientific experiment.π§π€

The scientific principle that hard packed snow is just as slippery as ice when it’s on a hill and the observer is going downhill while not watching where he is going and the length of time it takes him to turn completely around to go backward and go flying into the deep snow along the side of the path he is walking on and at the same time hitting his head on a tree.π€ππ¨βπ¬
