Coffee Time #60. Plus Country.

Good morning everyone! It’s definitely another chilly day for us, but it’s nice and warm inside and the coffee is hot so just help yourself, sit back and relax with us. I think this return to the cold weather has given Muffin an extra dose of energy the last couple of mornings, this morning included. She is running all over, tossing her toys around, and wanting me to join in which I am very happy to do. So I toss her toys in the air and she jumps up to grab them and run off with them. Thankfully she usually does bring them back as well or our playtime would be rather short. But we really did have a good time playing this morning.

Muffin is a person, I mean cat, that doesn’t like change. I’m kind of sorting through all my stuff right now so there are things sitting here, there and everywhere, anywhere except where it should be. That bothers Muffin. I think she associates all that mess with moving. And she is definitely no fan of moving. While sorting stuff I moved a bunch of magazines I have. They are called “Country Living”, as shown in the pictures today.

Figured I should toss some nice winter scenery in here too.

My mom first started buying these magazines in February 1983. And she bought them every month, missing just one issue, until she passed away in 1993. I inherited all these magazines, which I also enjoyed. Mom and I enjoyed the same kinds of antiques and rustic country living style. The magazine is still being sold, but it has changed a lot and doesn’t promote the same rustic country collecting and decorating of the earlier magazines. I like to read and reread these magazines, I find them very enjoyable.

While living at my last apartment, many of you will recall, it flooded one night, not a very good way to wake up. Anyway, I ended up losing a lot of my stuff, including many of these magazines. Fortunately I have been able to find some at garage sales, but I am still missing a number of issues. So I keep looking. They don’t seem easy to find here in Canada though, which is unfortunate, but hopefully one of these days I will be able to replace all the missing issues. I would actually like to add a few years and go right to the end of 1999 if possible, but I think that might be more impossible. Oh well, I finally have them sorted and put away properly once again, and Muffin is happier. Have a happy Monday everyone and God bless!

Steve and Muffin.

  2. Hi Steve! My project is coming along so I took a break earlier to do some β€œreading.” πŸ˜‚

I know how that goes. It will be three years next month since my mother’s passing. There are five of us so we agreed to divide up things to help us remember her. I was grateful my siblings let me have the old sewing machine that she helped me with to put together outfits after I took Home Economic in school. I still use it regularly. Sorry a lot of those magazines were destroyed. I agree they were the best during that timeframe and they help you to β€œremember.” I looked up the magazines on eBay. Sorry to tell you, but they are too pricey. I wish you the best in finding the ones you are missing. Have a great evening! πŸ˜πŸŒ™

    • Yep, I checked eBay too, but since it’s all from the US it makes it rather high priced with exchange, import tax and sales tax. I guess they were not too popular here in Canada so nothing ever shows up on eBay from here. So garage sales are the only way to go unless I can get to our nearest city and check out some used stores there. Can’t get there right now though with the pandemic so will have to wait awhile. Thanks for checking that out though.
Glad to hear your project is coming along so well, always nice when things go a little faster like that!😁
I hope you have a nice evening as well Beverly!πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ΊπŸŒ™

      • I don’t expect to find them all, but even if I find some I will be quite happy. And if I don’t find any more, oh well, just one of those things that happens. I hope you get a smile “as wide as a country sunrise” this week!😁😸🌞

      • Yes, that seems to be when it happens, when we just let it go and not stress or worry about it and then He surprises us. Best way to live, isn’t it? 😁

Thank you so much! I really appreciate that and I believe I will! πŸ˜€

      • Yes, sad but true. But we have a choice and that choice restarts every morning when we get up. 🌞 Yesterday is gone. Today is a new day and a chance to make the right choice.

        Yep, I will! 😁

      • Steve, I know you will get this tomorrow, but I also hope you get a smile β€œas wide as a country sunrise” this week, pain-free from the tooth extraction and sciatic nerve flare-up. πŸ˜πŸŒ™

      • Thank you so much Beverly! The tooth extraction seems to have healed nicely now, but my sciatic nerve is still bad. The last time it was this bad it lasted about 3 months, but I pray it won’t be so long this time!πŸ˜€πŸ˜Ίβ˜•β˜•πŸŒž

      • Yes, thanks! πŸ₯³πŸ₯³. I am so excited! I have been a coffee drinker for over 40 years. Our family (our tribe-as we call ourselves…lol) drink it like water. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. I don’t feel bad about that because I drink a lot of water as well. 😁. I tried coffee once when I was sick, but getting a little better and I could barely force it down. It was so horrible. I am glad you were able to still drink it. There were foods I completely stopped eating as well. I am incorporating some back in, but some I just cannot handle. That virus is really bad news, very dark, but time to move on despite it still being all around us, right? 😁😁.

You’re very welcome on the prayers! 😁

      • Yes, there was foods I stopped eating because they just did not taste good at all. Even now some foods will taste okay, then one day they don’t again.😳 Very odd how this thing works.πŸ™„ Yep, have to keep going, but it’s now getting quite bad in our little town so it’s necessary to be careful still since it is possible to get it a second time and I sure don’t want that!😬

Sorry about it being so bad in your town. πŸ™ Please be careful. Someone in my church got it again and the second round was almost as bad as the first. 😳

Thanks Steve! Have a nice evening as well. πŸ˜πŸŒ™

      • Yes, because I have a poor immune system it could be even worse the second time around according the doctor. I don’t want that, so I’m being extra careful these days and not going out much.😳

      • Too many trees and shrubs along the path to get off the path, plus the snow is still a bit deep in places for comfortable walking. I should get some strap on spikes for my boots, but it’s too close to spring, the stores don’t have them in stock now. I need to think ahead, or maybe I need a head to think?πŸ€”πŸ˜‚πŸ˜ΉI do have my walking stick to help.😁
