For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning and Happy Easter everyone! It’s a very beautiful, sunny, spring morning here today. And there is a lot of bird activity as well. The gulls were here first, Sir George and Lady Pearl, then Sir Henry, so nice to have him back again as he is now the friendliest of the gulls. The chickadees, nuthatches and blue jays also showed up, plus the hairy woodpeckers who have discovered that peanuts actually taste good, so now I have 2 of them added to the peanut lovers list. Seems kind of odd having them come down onto the deck and fly away with a peanut in their beak. They must be thinking of nesting closer this year so guess I will see them more often which is nice.
There are a lot of evening grosbeaks out here this morning too, mostly males this time. There are a few juncos now and a common grackle showed up yesterday, and is still here this morning. I was fully expecting to hear robins singing this morning, but I guess they are not back yet which is so strange. Because this is an early spring they should be here by now. Oh well, one of these days. The forest is very dry right now, we have had a couple of small fires already. Living in this area I would think that people would be more careful.
Walking down the path to the river, it is so dry. Dry grass, dry leaves, dry ground. I found a cigarette butt someone had tossed aside, still burning sitting on rock but only an inch away from dry grass. One small inch and it could have started a fire. So sad that people just don’t think. You probably noticed that yesterday and today my titles for the morning posts have changed. Slight changes for the summer months. Sunday morning posts will be a bit shorter and will have nice sunny pics to share. Saturday’s posts will be, well, something different each week. Monday to Friday will basically be the same. Have a wonderful day everyone and God bless!
Steve and Muffin.

Hello and Happy Easter 🐣
I believe that bright flower you have MIGHT be a Black Eyed Susan? Lol maybe?
Ahhh yes – fire season 😮 Hopefully goes ok for you up there 🙏 That’s one way to heat up lol

I don’t have any chess pieces. We play checkers sometimes. I was almost winning when she decided hockey would be more fun. No need to feel bad, we had a great time!😂😹

We thought so although I thought that hitting me on the nose with that checker was out of line. She disagreed. So we had a snack to think about it.

Higher steps? That only helps coming back, but going there I have to take lower steps because it’s all downhill.

It’s dangerous to walk around at home carrying scissors.🙄 They should be banned.😳
I’ll just leave the scissors at home and not touch them.🤪 That way I won’t need the anchor.😁

How many pounds of peanuts do your friends eat?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Oh my, I hate to admit it, but it’s about 6 pounds a week. We have 2 kinds here, one for animals, one for people. I get them the ones for people since they are half price of the ones for animals and much nicer peanuts. And I get to eat some too!

Steve, it appears you might need a traffic light one of these days. As for dryness and wildfires, there was one in western North Dakota recently. It threatened the town of Medora and its summer musicals amphitheater. Thankfully there was no major damage. I would like to attend a summer show there (seen 2-3 in past years).
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes, that dryness extends from the west and central areas of the US up into the southern prairies of Canada and into our area. Could be bad this summer. Wildfires can burn down a town quickly, good that no major damage happened there.
