Steve And Muffin’s Wildflowers #19.

Hi everyone! Here we are with another wildflower, the “yellow avens”. This is a member of the rose family and is a native wildflower found throughout Canada and most of the US, though missing from several US states in the south and southeast. The plant grows from 20 to 40 inches (50 to 100cm) tall. It has very bright yellow flowers near the top of the plant which are about 1/2 inch (12mm) across. It prefers partial shaded to sunny areas with moist soil, in fields, open woods and thickets. The flowers and leaves can be quite variable depending on where it grows. The underside of leaves and stem are covered in stiff hairs. I hope you have a wonderful day everyone and God bless!
