Monday’s Musings #16.
Good morning on this beautiful Monday! It’s so nice and warm again this morning, like yesterday. The kind of morning I would love to sit on the deck with my coffee and enjoy the chipmunks running back and forth, coming on my lap looking for peanuts, while listening to all the birds which are no longer singing…okay, that’s a tough one. But there are chickadees chirping out there, and the occasional blue jay, um, doing their calls as well. However, the early arrival of a large black animal caused me to rethink that idea and enjoy my coffee indoors instead. After all, I don’t want a bear to stick it’s tongue in my cup of coffee. It would kind of spoil the experience.
Too bad really. After all, these beautiful warm mornings will not be around much longer, although we should get a couple more yet. It will be next June at least before they come back. Now that’s quite a thought. I mean, next June is 10 months away. However, it doesn’t have to be real warm to sit outside with my cup of coffee, I can do that even on mornings that are not so warm. Just wear a jacket. But I do have to drink my coffee faster since the cooler temps tend to cool the coffee faster. Oh well. Sir Henry didn’t show up at all yesterday, I wonder if he will be here today? The other gulls have been here for their breakfast.
The chipmunks are scurrying around quickly getting as much as they can, with a few “conversations” and a little chasing happening. But nothing serious. Really, there isn’t much happening this morning. Yesterday I tried to get a picture of a white-faced hornet, also called a bald-faced hornet. It didn’t cooperate however. Instead it seemed to get a little upset that I disturbed it. So it did this buzzing around in circles that they like to do and which makes me a bit nervous.
However, it’s best not to get nervous. They can tell. That’s when they like to attack. And sting. Which is worse than a bee sting. So I kind of prefer not to get stung by one. Then there was this huge bumble bee, wow, was it big! I tried to get close for a pic, but, things didn’t work out. It landed on a flower right next to my hand at one point. And I mean right next to my hand. I decided to retreat to safety. Oh well. It’s a beautiful summer morning and I am enjoying it. I hope you all have a wonderful day and God bless!

That bear is becoming a real nuisance

Yes indeed, he was here last evening and again this morning, plus he knocked over some of my plants so I have a mess to clean up too.

Yep, I only have 4 geraniums left and maybe one dahlia if I can save it. Not even completely sure of 2 of those geraniums. Oh well, perhaps next year.😀😺🌺

it’s too bad your deck isn’t on the second level; you would probably still get all the birds and squirrels and chipmunks to visit, but not the bear…

My landlord’s deck is on the second level and she still gets the bears too. I watched that 400 pounder climb up there like he was just walking on level ground.😳🐻

I am happy that you are staying safe ! Muffin agrees I am sure ! It is very quiet here altho’ the blue jays and chickadees continue to get their treats…oh, well…🙂😺☕️☕️

That bear appears to be too comfortable around humans. Must be getting much food near humans. Glad you are staying safe. May God’s blessings continue pursue you the length of your days. 😊

There’s a restaurant not far from us, plus Dairy Queen. They both keep their dumpsters open, especially the restaurant, and that always attracts the bears. And because of the locations they get used to being around people. And a lot of people are not careful about their garbage and then complain when the bears make a mess. But this problem is all over town right now, it was a bad year for berries. Unfortunately when bears lose their fear of people, they become dangerous.

Surprised the restaurants don’t have bear proof dumpsters. It affects everyone!

They are supposed to keep them locked but they don’t always do it.

Sometimes we have to enjoy nature’s fascination from a careful distance. Your visiting bear sure doesn’t care about his manners.

Although that’s not always possible since bears pick when and where they want to show up. Seems a shame to waste nice weather sitting inside in front of a screen instead of being outside enjoying summer which is very soon gone. Oh well, maybe next summer will be better though I doubt it, the bears will still be here.

It would be nice. We’re heading back to cool temps this weekend and that will mark the end of summer for us. This warm weather is gone for another year. We had a lot this summer though, just too bad the bears spoiled it. If this had been two years ago I would never have worried about the bears.

Your post , so big and very dangerous!! You buy firecrackers and burned , it scare and won’t come near 🌷
Anyway you must alert and take care 👌🌷you keep Muffin also home inside , very scary 😟

That would be a good idea, firecrackers would certainly work.🤔 Unfortunately they have banned them here now,🙄 no longer legal to sell them.😬 Too bad, it would work.
