Summer Pleasures

Mama deer with young today,

Watching them run, jump and play.

Seeing eagles soar up high,

Summer pleasures, far and nigh.

Ducklings swimming in a bunch,

Tiny birds, looking for lunch.

Under pines, so great and tall,

Summer pleasures for us all.

Chipmunks climbing over me,

Squirrels that sit upon my knee.

Blue jays looking, oh, so fine,

Summer pleasures, yours and mine.

Lying down on summer grass,

And watching clouds as they pass.

While we feel that warmest sun,

Summer pleasures, so much fun.

Sitting by a calm, clear lake,

As the morning does awake.

The rising sun, glows so bright,

Summer pleasures, what a sight!

      • Yes, stress is a normal reaction with Covid, even if a person doesn’t get it.
        I have been going through a rough period the past couple of weeks, but it will change soon I’m sure. It’s really hard to stay focused on things. But it comes and goes, eventually it will go and stay away, I hope.

  8. Thanks for your lovely poem, Steve. I’m missing it already. I feel like I missed my whole summer this year due to sickness. 😿 And the rain here has prevented enjoying the last rays. But here’s to the approaching fall… 🍁😸

    • Yes, I know how you feel, due to ongoing health problems and the bears I have spent most of my summer indoors,😕 and it was such a nice summer too!🌞 Sorry that you missed so much because of sickness, terrible way to miss summer.😟 We’re half way through fall already, we could have winter a month from now!😳😂😹Thanks Renee!

      • Yes not a good way to miss summer for sure.😿Sorry you’ve had a time with bears and health issues. I forget you are a little ahead of the south. The first day of fall starts the 22nd here. I can’t even imagine winter just yet! 😿

      • Officially fall starts on that date here too, but Sept 1 is the usually accepted date for us, though fall weather often starts mid August. We have had winter start as early as Oct 8, that’s not far away!😳😳
