The Investigators, Inc. Mystery Of Baldwin’s Friend. Chapter 4.

On our way to our first stop I fill Jennifer in on some details. “We’re heading to Baldwin’s research facility first,” I said to her, “and you’re going to hack into some things for me.” “Thanks Steve,” she answered, “this could get us arrested.” “No, we’re safe that way, but Baldwin did say anyone going into one section of the facility would be shot on sight,” I informed her, “but we don’t go in there, we’re on our way to the personnel section, so you can check on Harold and anyone else working in that off limits part. I know you could do it off site, but this should be easier, it won’t set off any alarms.”

“That’s good to know,” she said. “And here is your entry card, Kat and I each have one and right now you are Kat,” I told her, “I had things done that way since you’re better at hacking than Kat.” “Thanks Steve, nice to know I’m good at being a criminal,” she said laughing. We get there and get in with no problems and up to the 5th floor we go. “Um, they have cameras all over the place,” said Jennifer, “that’s going to make things hard.”

“No problem, the cats and I will make a little diversion to give you time to put this disk over the camera lens, it will show us walking down the hall, in and out of the rooms. But we will stay in the personnel room. Now the guard comes by every 15 minutes, so that should give us 12 minutes to get what we want and remove the disk from the camera.” “On, no problem then, I didn’t realize we would have so much time,” Jennifer said sarcastically. I laughed, the cats giggled. First problem showed up in the fact the ceiling was high so Jennifer couldn’t reach it.

Therefore the cats were on their own, running down the hall in a race and stopping just as a door slammed shut to keep us out of the restricted area. While that happened I had Jennifer get on my shoulders and she put the disk on the camera and down she came, all done amazingly fast. We may have been seen on another camera further down the hall, but that’s why the cats had their race, to keep eyes on them. It must have worked, no guards came running. I put my hands on the screen to gain entry into the room we wanted and Jennifer went to work quickly.

“Wow, this was way too easy, Baldwin needs to fix this,” said Jennifer. “That could mean someone else has been in and changed the lock he had in place,” I suggested. “Quite possible,” she admitted, “another problem, he has everyone marked that is working on that project, easy for someone to find out who they are.” She printed out the names and addresses of those people. Then she started printing something else, and handed me the papers. “This is their project,” I said in disbelief. “Yes, way too easy to get at it,” said Jennifer, “and it is real, I checked.

I gave it to her to carry out of here. “Just in case they check us,” I said, “I will make a big fuss if they try to check my wife, that should do it.” We left, undid the disk and were on our way. As we get close to the exit the main guard met us and explained the doors stopped working for some reason so we would have to leave through another door which wasn’t far down the hall. There was 2 men working on the main doors so no problem. “Have a good night,” said the guard and shut the door. Two other guards met us with guns out and took our guns and told us to go with them.

The cats ran off to hide and watch. They put us in the back of a big truck and drove off. The cats watched and got the license number of the truck and the ID number on it. They called in the distress signal and finally found our car which had been moved to another location. The driver called Kat, “something’s wrong Kat, only the cats came back.” “Let me talk to them,” she said. The cats gave their info to Kat letting her know we had been kidnapped.

Kat called everyone to find that truck fast. Our car was the first to find the truck and followed until 2 other cars showed up, then they stopped the truck. We were not on the truck anymore however, but Kat told the men to bring the drivers back to our base, which was in an old warehouse. They put the 2 guards to “sleep” for the trip. “Steve,” said Jennifer quietly, “this place has rats, I’m terrified of rats!” “I don’t like them much myself,” I said, “but this is what we will try and hope it works…

    • Well, we did want to find out if there were any leaks in Baldwin’s research facility and we did it! Of course this isn’t quite the way we wanted to do it. But we need to do something fast, time is being wasted and we don’t have much time. We still need to find Sonia! But now we have to escape first, if we can.πŸ˜³πŸ‘±β€β™€οΈπŸ˜ΎπŸ˜ΎπŸ‘±β€β™€οΈπŸ‘©πŸ˜ πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

    • Yes, I agree, that would have been smart, but everything seemed normal enough, until…
