For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning everyone! It is a nice, but cold and windy morning here. If it was not for the cold and windy part, it would be very nice. And of course no snow. However, that will take a while yet. A long while. Months. So we will not even think about that this morning. Instead I like to think about summer on days like this. Warmth, sunshine, green leaves on the trees and multitudes of flowers blooming everywhere. Now that is a nice day. Right now it is just a dream, but it sure is a nice dream. A nice deserted island full of palm trees and sand beaches where it is warm all year. That is another nice dream.
But it does not even need to be that nice. That Nice place I went to on vacation 2 years ago, it does not get cold there either. Temps stay on the plus side of the freezing point, which is very nice. I could handle that very well. I remember telling a taxi driver how cold it gets over here. He turned around and stared at me. Almost drove into the back of a bus. He asked how people manage to survive over here. Good question really.
I wonder why people chose to settle in cold places like this in the first place. And why do we stay? Another good question. Oh well. But it is the most beautiful place to live in the summer. But then, I might be a little biased on that assessment. Summer. It is such a beautiful thought. Sitting on the deck with my morning coffee. Having bears join me on the deck. Okay, that part of summer is not so good.
Walking to the river. Being attacked by thousands of mosquitoes. Okay, so I give up a little blood, minor detail. Sitting in the shade by the river on a hot summer day. Now that is nice. And of course, the flowers. Beautiful summer. Meanwhile, Muffin and I sit curled up in the recliner keeping each other warm. Well, she is curled up, not me. If I tried that I would never get uncurled again. Have a beautiful day everyone and God bless!
Steve and Muffin.

It was so very cold today and windy with the cold which makes it feel even colder! I’m the same as you, I don’t like the air conditioning to be real cold, I prefer warmer temps all year, even inside! It might go down to -40 again tonight, much too cold!π₯Άπ₯Ά

It is truly beautiful and some places in Canada don’t get so cold as it is here in the north.π₯Ά The southern areas have shorter milder winters but get a lot of snowββ so it’s easier to enjoy the snow than it is up here.π But we can get some nice weather too, just not very much it seems!ππ

ha ha ha don’t try that, we need help to unwrap you then π π€£. Job opportunities are not good unless a person has a good education and experience to go with it. And the cost of living here is very high so most people have a difficult time.

Yes, Canada is a nice place to live in many ways, like any country there are good points and bad points. And there are warmer parts of Canada too, southern Ontario, Quebec and the east are warmer and shorter winters than we have, though they can sometimes get more snow, it just doesn’t hang around as long as it does here in the north.
Yes, that virus is worse here now than it ever has been. Even our little town is really bad this time with hundreds of people getting it.π³π³π¬π¬ Makes me want to stay home all the time, but I still need to go shopping for food. Enjoy your day Simon!ππΊπββ

That’s nice to know the difference between north and southern Canada. Virus is bad here too, corona hadn’t taught it’s kids to “BEHAVE” totally disappointed with its parenting π€£. Be safe, it is fast and not furious but still dangerous. Hope your shopping is Done well. Enjoy your day too Uncle Steve β¨π₯³

Yep, it is dangerous still, our hospitals are filling up so fast with more people than ever before during this pandemic. Hopefully it will soon be over.ππΊ

We should start living with it, I’ve seen a meme recently and it asked valid questions, if masks could save you from corona why social distance, if social distance is enough, why lockdown? if lockdown is enough why 2 dose of vaccination, if vaccination is enough why lockdown again π these formalities urghhπππ€

The problem is, not one thing is good enough, we need all of them to work properly. But the problem is not everyone is willing to do the basics. If we could get everyone to mask, social distance and get vaccinated, then lockdowns would not be necessary.
Actually, I thought we were living with it? At least I think I’m alive…πππ€£π€£

I live in Lebanon where I meet a lot of both Lebanese and Syrians . I tell you that many people, whether Syrians or Lebanese like to go to Canada as it has the reputation of having a lot of job opportunities, generally good decent wages and salaries , very huge areas with vast enormous resources … Canada seeks to get 1 million immigrants in 3 years …Believe me if I tell you a lot of people from Lebanon, Syria , Eygpt , Morroco would live to go to Canada for its welfare system as it has a low density wide areas …

They have to learn English when they get here, or French if going to Quebec.

Well, what they are not told is that the cost of living is also very high. Any good jobs, which are not plentiful, are in the big cities and the cost of living there is terrible, you need a very good paying job to live. An average 3 bedroom house costs $800,000 something most people can’t afford. But if they have a good education and the right experience, then they could be okay, probably better off then where they are anyway. We have had some come to our town but they only stay one winter and they move away, just too cold. Hopefully they don’t come just to get on our welfare system, that’s no way to live.
