Good morning everyone! Here we are back at Friday already, this past week has gone by rather quickly for me. Today is much milder than yesterday, it is 3F (-16C) this morning, but there is also a very strong wind out there, really tossing those trees around at times. And it is supposed to start snowing soon, with 2 to 4 inches (5 to10cm) in the forecast. But with that strong wind it will be hard to tell what we get exactly. Right now the wind is from the south, but will switching to the north later today, bringing back that cold weather again.
I was out just as it was becoming sort of daylight out there and the redpolls showed up first today. I could barely see them, good thing they were chirping! They usually arrive first in the morning now, even before the chickadees. There are a lot of birds out there this morning again. Both of the platform feeders are full to overflowing with grosbeaks right now, and with the little redpolls running around in between the grosbeaks.
The chickadees and nuthatches mainly stay with the hanging feeders, but the grosbeaks will use those as well. My two blue jays were here early too which was nice to see. And both a hairy and downy woodpecker. Plus I now have 4 starlings that come around each morning to get a bit of food, but they do not stay very long. The redpolls will come to me right away when I am out there putting seeds out, trying to land on me.
They will sit on my head or arms waiting for more seeds. So nice to see that they have gotten so comfortable with me now. I might try to spend some time outside with the birds this morning, if it is not snowing. Perhaps that snow will miss us this time. That would be fine with me. Hmm, I think the birds need some more seeds. I can always tell, they start to fight more and get louder with their chirping. I could use some more coffee too, how about you? Thank you for reading, have a fabulous Friday and God bless!
